NinjaSavingKat wrote: »This made me chuckle. I made some great kidney bean ones the other day that actually stayed together - shame I forgot seasoning and they were SO bland. I got distracted by my LL who likes to "watch" me while I cook which I find very very off-putting a little creepy.
That's the tricky bit getting them to stick! I made some vegan ones from some leftover beans I had and I got them to stick using the homemade pesto I made and they packed the flavour in.
Why does your LL like to watch you cook? That's a new fetish on me? :rotfl:Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
MrsGSR - I used a flax egg ( 1 tablespoon of ground flax to two tablespoons of water x 2 ) and they held together just fine. In fact I did another batch last night which is in the fridge "setting" as we speak - with a half of grated "slightly manky" courgette, fried onion, garlic and cumin seeds, herbamore (herb salt), lots of pepper, smoked paprika and fresh parsley - if these are just as rank I am going to cry.
My LL........hmmmm. Well he is 48 and his girlfriend 50 - they are the typical "buy your chicken in a bag, and your vegetables already chopped for you" type. Although they are hardly home, ( I literally live alone as the LL stays with his girlfriend a LOT ) the food they do buy is food that's already prepared or very very simple. And boring.
I just think he is fascinated by what I cook but it is weird and very annoying. His girlfriend made a snappy "No" when he offered her some of my food to try - without asking me! They are both over-weight though and are regulars at Krispy Kremes with boxes in the house - my LL has boasted about eating an entire box once in one sitting.
Am I allowed to say they have a very English palate and don't seem to be very adventurous although I don't know what they eat at her place - maybe they eat simply as they know I will always be in the kitchen getting in the way...:rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Happy Friday June Bugs!

applemuncher - hope you are feeling better today, how scary for you. Did you black out when standing? The bathroom is a very dangerous place for falls, all that porcelain and sticky out taps, you were very lucky.
mothernerd - you have been busy, hope you get more than you paid for your house in the end. We have a couple of houses on our lane which were bought at the height of the housing boom and the owners are now in quite a bit of negative equity. We were lucky as we bought ours in a state of disrepair at the early part of the boom so have plenty of equity in it.
Kat - I had a plain but very healthy and wholesome diet as a child, everything was home cooked but was very much meat and 2 veg, I grew up in the 70s and 80s when food was pretty dire but not so in our house as my parents are older and old fashioned. When I got my own house with DH we ate pretty badly as I had never been taught to cook, all that changed when I became vegetarian and started to be much more adventurous, I am no longer a veggie (was for 7 years) but still use interesting ingredients and spices but not in your league I don't think due mainly to feeding a young family who despite being introduced to lots of flavours early on decided they only liked 3 things when they turned 2.
I am very annoyed with myself, I have a Halifax reward current account which pays £5 for staying in credit. I was in credit the day before pay day, I went to Barclays with my Avon customer money and paid it into the account I keep for that purpose and then came home to pay online and used the wrong debit card, I used the Halifax one and didn't even notice so I couldn't even transfer the money across. I won't get the £5 now as I went into the overdraft.
Today will be spend day as grocery shop is being delivered.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Sorry guys, I'm in work! Am feeble but coping. Got told by the Head that I should just show dvds to the pupils, which is nice! Just 1 more class today then will leave early - promise!
Kat - and others - thank you for all the lovely comments. THe landing on my head wasn't that bad - not even a bruise, just a sore bit - my forearms somehow saved me on that one. Yes, the other fall was so lucky. And the blackouts were caused by the food poisoning/ bug. Didn't have any yesterday. Am taking it easy, although would rather be on the sofa snoozing...!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
apple muncher you are a trooper! I know what its like, I never have a day off, I just feel too guilty. Hope you get plenty of rest over the weekend.
Oh no dolly, that sort of thing really upsets me.
MagicCat, for what its worth, I agree and think you should just go for it. I don't think I want children but if you want them, don't let money get in the way. Children do not have to be expensive although I know paying for child care has to be a consideration for many. You could always start trying as it make take a while. I teach human reproduction at school and apparently only 70% of couples using no protection for a year will achieve pregnancy, and 95% in 5 years (this isn't meant to scare you, just to point out, it may not be instant and then of course there is the 9 month pregnancy to allow you to save and pay off debt).
Today has been fairly busy, but a lot of it admin related so that has been quite niceTonight and tomorrow will be more marking, although hopefully I may finish tomorrow
Today will be a spend day as the dogs are out of food, need to find 2 more SFDs in the next 3 but not planning on doing anything this weekend, apart from marking, planning and the gym, so they are all free activities. Poo, just forgot I have a beauty (essential) appointment tomorrow so will have to be Sunday and Monday that are SFDs.
No exercise today, I should be going for a run but it is chucking it down at the moment. I have a class booked for tomorrow and hopefully as soon as the marking is over, I should have my evenings back to do classes in the weekLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

I'm not a trooper, Fmess, just daft! I went to the Head at lunchtime to ask to go home after the next lesson and he told me to go home there and then! So i did,and have been able to collect dd myself from school which has made her v happy.
But I'm glad I went in as I'd arranged for the new MFL teacher to come in, ans didn't want to postpone her.
Am now sat on the sofa with the tennis on, and dd playing happily.
I foresee a quiet weekend. Dh has to work away on Sat - and if it goes badly, then Sun too. I shall take dd to dance on Sat morn and then either home + send her out the front to play on the green, or take her to a (whisper) coffee shop + ch shops. She does need some shorts...she has none so it is a need! And we may well skip church on Sun.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Be kind to yourself AppleMuncher.
Spent money today as needed to take the bus from town centre to mum's - only added 50p on to travel as I realised one of yesterday's bus fares was covered by the taxi money mum gave me last week.
Quiet day, much better than I was expecting - mum had got her dates wrong (muddled?). Baking is next week and my little assistants are already bailing - one is going for a meal with friends and thinks the other will not be staying for tea- so probably will not come back after picking 5yo up from school. She may also be juggling appointments.
Church magazines arrived just before tea so we did folding/ collating and stapling sort of helped by 5yo (counting prowess good - remembering to add a completed magazine to the pile for each count hit and miss, counted to twenty but only 13 mags in the pile) and distracting the 1yo with elastic bands and thanking her for the things she gave us and returning them to the correct pile when she wasn't looking. Luckily finished just before mad puppy dog arrived -cue quick sweep of floor for stray elastic bands before they got eaten.
Have done lots of little bits of exercise - got to the point where I couldn't make my leg do another lift.
So tired. Fell asleep sitting up at the laptop earlier and hadn't the energy to turn it back on - writing now as had to get up for a banana. Tea was at 5pm and it's a long while till breakfast - think I wouldn't have been able to sleep if I hadn't eaten something.
Have a peaceful night and a good day tomorrow everyone. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
