Losing weight is supposed to be 80% what you eat and 20% exercise (sorry gym bunnies). But all that walking and strengthening your legs will help fend off osteoporosis when you get older. I am nowhere near peak fitness, but my calf muscles are still reasonably firm - some slackness due to recent low levels of activity but 30+ years of walking everywhere and carrying all the food ( and plants, compost, trees, sand and cement) that came into the house in in a rucksack on my back have given some benefits. Actually since I was a child we never caught the bus for anywhere under 8 miles, so make that 50+ years

mothernerd - my DD has eczema and it is much worse in the warm weather, the sun makes it worse and the inside of her elbows are bad where skin gets tacky in the heat. We buy an amazing cream from Lush, it's called Dream Cream, it annoys me that we have to buy it at over £10 a pot when she gets free prescriptions but the creams the doctors give are just thick moisturisers even though her skin isn't dry half the time and they just do nothing.

Today will be a spend day, Sainsburys are delivering my groceries, this will be my last full shop from my current grocery budget and we will be well under budget. The difference will go the the credit card.

    Afternoon all....

    I have been naughty. :o:o:o

I joined my local gym last night and paid on my CC. £32.50 for July with the rest of June free.

£65 in August to cover September as well.

Small price considering the amount of OT I do and it will make me feel better.

Free PT session on Tuesday but I went in last night ( 20 minute walk to get there and back again ) to orientate myself around the machines.

20 minutes HIIT on the upright bike, 10 minutes running to test my knee and some stiff leg deadlights and cable pulls to get a good look around the gym.

It's very small - the man in front on the running machine had the machine inclined and his head was an inch form the ceiling.

    I like it like this.

I might have also bought some energy tabbies to help with days when OT catches up with me - not to be relied on but more of a booster. I used to use them back in the days of training 4-5 times a week with a 19% body-fat so I know the dangers and protocols.

Watch this space. NSK is about to become an actual Ninja.

Absolutely true. It's like these abs challenges make you think your going to have a six pack in a month, not so. Abs come from the kitchen!
Walking is excellent, I normally walk a few miles a day with the school run but ATM I am struggling to walk to the drs (across the road) I know it will get better but it's frustrating when you are usually so active.

Quiet day. Another NSD. Walked to mum's - went along the canal bank which presented a few new challenges. Came home as I was falling asleep in front of the film. A few favourable comments on my hair - not from my sons. Hoping to be mobile and get a few things done over the weekend.

Today I am grateful for the sunshine, for amenable teenagers, for my jama trousers, for a wonderful friend helping me out, for good coffee.

Also acquired anothrr NSD snd 10k steps and no sugar.

And we are now 2/3 of the way through June - not long to go! Tomorrow is the weekend - and the longest day. Yippee!

Kat - hope you enjoy your gym. I joined one last month mainly because the weather was getting in the way of my exercise plans, I don't mind cycling and running in rain but not when it is torrential. Obviously since then the weather has been mostly dry. What energy tabs are you taking?

Mothernerd - glad your hair got nice comments, a change is as good as a rest.

We need to spend money today hopefully not too much though, we need brake block things for one of the bikes. We plan to spend as much time outside as possible this weekend doing free things. Last night we went to the local country park with the kids and the dog, DS took his football and we all had a kickabout, then we did piggy back races, DD was carrying her brother and I carried DH (that man is heavy), we lost but it was very funny and not a penny spent.

    Hi all,

Been a busy week with 2 people off work and us running around likea mad thing!!! The old budget went out the window AGAIN this month and I've been using the CC again!!! Am so annoyed with myself...

I won some money on the lottery again (£25) but have had a couple of spend days - and have lost track of what I now have spent...

I have now adjusted my balance to reflect my BAD spending and have cut up the CC so I can't use it on impulse when I'm out and/or feeling a bit low. I MUST break these habit. I'm still going to be on target but my overtime from last month is pretty much accounted for now!!! GRRRRRR!!!

I have £33.79 in cash to see me through until Friday which is plenty... will try and live off what I have so I can pay this towards my debts.

    Bad BAD Abundant (again!!!)
