    Interesting.

If all those people are defecting to UKIP, I don't see many obvious Labour voters in there.

There's a lot of scope for the Tories to claim those voters witha don't waste your vote campaign. They're offering a voice to those that want out of Europe after all.

I suspect that there's a problem with defining foreign.

No more no less than some of the other categories but in London the estimates seem to say 36% of registered voters are 'foreigners'.

If true, then one would expect it to have a significant effect on Londoners' view on the EU and some other policies.

Is not a fair definition "not born in the UK"?
Except for UK parents temporarily abroad at time of birth.

Another report, based on data from the British Election Study, claims that UKIP voters are, in fact, more 'left wing' than your typical Lib Dem or Tory.

Even today Tony Blair is trying to tag UKIP voters as extremist and nutters because they do not agree with his open door lets millions in policy (surprising how many vote labour though isn't it). This country is not large current projections are for a population of over 70 million by 2030 I.e. another 10 million no doubt we will have built about 50 properties by then so its all good right, nevermind the roads etc.

My kids were both born in the UK with a British Dad and an Aussie Mum. They would be appalled to be thought of as 'foreign' in either country.

Mrs Generali lived from the age of 20 until her mid-30s in the UK and considers herself to be more English than Australian.

Interesting. It's a fairly limited definition of 'left wing' I guess could be an ideological stick you could beat this survey with.

I would imagine that the last 4 of the 5 statements at least would find favour with most 'working class' Tories. Let us not forget that the 'working class' vote in vast numbers for the Conservative Party. If they didn't then there'd never be a Tory Government.

I've worked in many 'working class' jobs, not just slumming it as a student. I reckon most of my colleagues would have agreed with the last 4 of the 5 points simply because from that place in the pile they're true! The key is that for the 'working class' Tory, they see Socialism as part of the problem rather than the solution.

I have a friend who was born in Wales but came to England when he was around 5 years old, now been here for about 50 years. He still considers himself Welsh and therefore a foreigner and is proud if it.
