Thanks, in the middle of reading through the rest to catch up, so far only on page 5! lol.

I meant to add above, in my experience, people who steal food from others dont view it as stealing. In my office you could leave £200 sitting on a desk and no one will touch it. But you leave so much as a teabag and its gone.

Always amazes me the twisted morals some seem to have (that its okay to steal your £5 lunch but not okay to steal £5 from your pocket). Stealing is stealing imo.

You need to keep reading to see what else was stolen ... :)

If I was being bullied at work like this, and HR were not taking it seriously, then I'd be posting my CV on all the job sites.

This is the kind of mindset people need to get out of imo. An innocent party should never have to change due to bullying or harassment.

I dont care if its the janitor, the owner/chairperson or even a client....an employee is a person, not a possession. Paying their wage (or fee) does not entitle you to treat them badly.

Could just be my line of work but I've found if you give an inch, they'll take a mile. If someone takes their bad day out on me, I forgive and forget.....but not before making it clear that their treatment of me is neither acceptable nor appreciated. As a result even the "crabbit" ones tend not to moan at me :rotfl:

This thread did remind me of the buttergate saga though! Anyone else remember that one? Think it was praise/vent/warning board but not sure, was about a year ago I think.

Glad OP got it sorted. Agree with others it sounds like she was after OP's job permanently, not just for annual leave. Major hole in her "OP set me up" story is this: if you had planted all these items to set her up.....why was she eating it (ie pringles) instead of asking who's it was and how the hell it got in her drawer/s? That would be my first reaction if I went into my desk and found stuff I didnt put there.....not "ooooh free food".

And if you deliberately put contaminated food into a communal area, you take the risk that a completely innocent person might accidentally eat it - someone takes it out, leaves it in the kitchen, someone makes a mistake and takes a bite - it might be slightly unlikely but it's not impossible.

Also bear in mind that many people in your office might be on medication - birth control, heart medication, insulin for diabetes - if they unknowingly take laxatives that might potentially have a much more serious effect than an hour on the toilet. Would you want to take that risk?

Maybe put a note on the lunchbox saying that it contains laxatives? That way it's the person's own fault if they still decide to steal it.
