Report it as theft to HR, it wasn't an innocent swipe of some chicken, it was theft of not only food but containers that had cost you money and were quite obviously your property. Explain to HR that they have exactly one week to ascertain who did it and ensure that person is punished or you will take it to the police and let them deal with it. It may not be a large item but theft is theft and you should be able to keep your property under your desk without fear it will be stolen. What next, they take your handbag, mobile etc?
There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.

Just a thought, but could your lunch/box/tupperware/cooler have been "tidied away" by someone into a different cupboard or fridge without telling you?

We have occasional mouse warnings issued where I work (lovely place!), and we are encouraged not to store any food under our desks but instead to place everything in cupboards in the kitchen. I've not seen anybody act as a food vigilante but I wouldn't put it past some people ...

and who was in the office while you went for a drink ?. It must have been one of them mustn't it ?.

It could have been anyone, I went on my break first and when I came back and reached for my water under the desk I couldn't feel the bottle hence me looking and saw that everything was gone.

I did think that but after searching I found nothing. My only hope is that HR takes action and does a draw check.

Please please make something ridiculously spicy for work tomorrow, add a really good amount of red food colour paste and hoepfully the thief will be revealed.

Do you have a good cool box you could leave in the car? It really does sound like someone really has it in for you OP. I just don't want you to give yourself food poisoning.

I don't think this will help. Seems to me that the thief isn't stealing OP's lunch to eat. Did you check the bins?

Do you have a lockable drawer on your desk - ideally one that is for filing? If you do place your lunchbox etc in that and keep the drawer locked and put the key on your keyring and keep it on your person.

Reiterate to HR that it is theft, harassment and bullying as you are on a lower wage and having to feed everybody else as well as provide them with sandwich boxes, coolbags, drinks bottles and ice packs. Say that you want to make a formal complaint - that should gee them up a bit.

Yvonne, do you have a locker at work to put your handbag, phone, purse etc in? I'm just concerned that the next step is taking more valuable belongings. I obviously don't know the set up in your place of work but surely somebody else must have seen somebody go to your desk and steal? I hope today goes ok, remember to make a huge fuss with HR.
