Astounded by Teletext!!!!!

I might be able to shed some light on this for you. My girlfriend worked for teletext holidays (it was actually mid-counties co-op who did the bookings at the time) for 6 months and was disgusted with the sales tactics she was encouraged to use.

Long story short, a lot of the holidays advertised on teletext don't actually exist at the quoted price so when you ring up it's a lottery as to whether you'll get an honest rep that will do everything they can to get you a good deal (including taking off their commission), or a rep that will do everything they can to "up sell" and line their pockets.

They offer these "upgrades" in the hope you won't check, truth is, all they're doing is increasing the profit margin and their commission, you get nothing extra.

Isnt it odd how often companys say we called but no answer and we couldnt leave a message.

I have had that a few times despite my landline and mobile both having answer phones set up

Not true as I have voicemail and also call history.
I have now started further action.

Mindi rang and repeated Company Policy was if they did not have complaint in full by Email they would not investigate.
No apology was given.
When I said I would contact Watchdog this seemed to make a difference and they Emailed me to say they were investigating as I had found that this had happened to other people.(paid for upgrade that did not exist)
I have taken further advice which I will not discuss as they read the Forum.
I would like to put a warning on the Holiday Section of the Forum or would this be O.T.T?

Teletext Holidays chaged us £80 for an upgraded room that did not exist Info in previous posts.

Am I the only person who had visions of someone sitting in front of the TV with their remote control in hand and their jaw wide open?

I've always been astounded by Teletext. When I last used it... in the early 90s :rotfl:
