  • We too are just about to finish the 6 month period. We have been receiving invoices throughout this time (for some strange reason) showing no charges but the one we received yesterday showed a £15.00 charge for this (last) month of 2 free mixes, then a £15.00 credit was applied, leaving a nil balance.

We did not give our bank details at start up, so they can't take any money, thank goodness.

Looking through the original bumph from Sky, it says they will contact us towards the end of the 6 month period, but haven't heard anything yet.

Knowing what a hassle this all was to get set up correctly in the first place (channels being switched off, continuous "Oops" letters, customer services not knowing what we were talking about), I'm beginning to dread what the next few weeks/months will bring.

Has anyone actually gone past the 6 month period - how has it all ended up ?
  • My brother didn't get the offer with the Free Ipod but got the box quite cheap. Now Sky are asking for money!! Should I have written and cancelled this contract before now??

I bought this from Asda nearly 6 months ago for my 80+ year old Mum.
Didn't give any bank details etc as she wasn't interested in ordering films, football or fights and only wanted the freebee mixes for the 6 months offered.

Received an invoice today from Sky for £19........£15 for 2 mixes and £4 for being lucky enough to receive the invoice.
This is what it says in the pack I had nearly 6 months ago..........Scanned from the pack !

    SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
With this pack you’ll automatically get our variety and Knowledge Mixes, but if music is more your thing, or you want to keep the kids entertained, why not change to a different set of any two of our Mixes. You can do this as many times as you like, you just need to keep your chosen combination for one month. Take a look at the page opposite and decide what suits you best
Then at the end of your first 6 months you can choose to subscribe to any of Sky's TV packages (starting from as little as £15 per month), or just continue watching over 200 free channels with no ongoing commitment to Sky.

Notice it says "At the end of your first 6 months you can choose to subscribe" and then "Or just continue watching etc..........................It doesn't say anywhere that you have to cancel anything.................And finishes with " You have no ongoing commitment to Sky"
My 6 months finishes on 24th Jan........................What do I do with the invoice, I don't want anybody knocking on the door for money !

After umpteen problems with Sky, the last straw was receiving a bill which covers the last month of my 'free' 6 months. I was determined not to ring 0870 to sort it out, so I went on their website. Although not easy to find, it is possible to email feedback to Customer Services and I have received a reply to say my contract will be cancelled on the correct date, and the bill amended. Have yet to receive in writing through the post as promised, but I do have the email as evidence in case of any further problems.
  • PNEfan - is it possible for you to pass on the email address you used ? It sounds like it's the best idea - at least they seem to know what's what, and as you say, you've got the email as proof. Sounds much better than spending ages on the 0870 number, trying to persuade those very helpful folk at Sky to deviate from their scripts.
    Thanks

Not email in the usual way. I went to the Sky website (address on bill) and had to log on as I wasn't already registered. This involved giving them some personal details and the number on my Sky card. Somewhere there is a way of contacting Customer Services. Bit convoluted, but...
  • on the phone I have been told I'm in a 12 month contract.... is this correct?

I've been told that I'm unable to cancel until the day on which the offer runs out, and I suspect that they're going to try charging me.

When I arranged the installation of mine, the operator stressed that if I didn't want to pay after 4 months I should allow a full month for the cancellation to go through ie cancel a month before the offer period expires
  • So what do I do ?? I don't want to have to leave my brother paying it for 6 months!! I haven't helped it at all now
