If you get this box (which is now offering a £39 gift free with it until Wednesday by the way) can I go through Quidco and sky or quidco and Dixons?
    Quidco via Dixons.
Sorry this might sound daft to those of you in the know. Also keep contemplating getting a new place to live so will that be a total waste of money?
Unless you move to a place with the Sky dish, it'll be a bit of a waste.
Would I have to pay for reinstallation again?
Yes, and the price of the dish. It'll be probably cheaper to get another £79 deal again.

Has anyone placed the order and received delivery in last 2 weeks.

I have not received mine yet was just curious.

Does anyone know what sort of lead time are there for installation

    regards
  • Hi, looked at this deal there is no Ipod included. Also the actual 'free' channels that are provided are not as good as freeview!!! 1 big channel, for me anyway, is E4 & E4+1 is not inlcuded on the 'free' sky. Also, i have a Freeview+ box which is similar to Sky+. I can record 2 channels at the same time, i can pause live TV, i can rewinds live TV, i can fast forward, it has a 40GB hard drive, you can get bigger hard drives, and it was cheaper than £75. Infact i got the deal from this website, its a Digi-Fusion and cost me £55 and this included delivery!!!!

There may be loads of awful channels, and it is more expensive than Freeview box. But if your aerial needs to be upgraded then it is a cheaper option. My quote for a new aerial was just over the £100 mark.

Remember that you need one box per TV/Monitor in the house. Freeview terrestrial UHF can be easily piped around the house by simple distribution, Sky box's can't. Each box adding to your Electricity Bill, more so then a Freeview box if you use them. So it may make sense to upgrade your terrestrial antenna instead of Sky boxing. I have gone the full upgrade over time, all TV's are Freeview UHF capable, and the house has full UHF distribution to Kitchen, Family Room, and Bedrooms.
    regards,

    regards,

looking to 'pipe' freeview also around the house, do you need a freeview box for each tv? can you change channels or do all tv sets have to be watching the same channel?

Does anyone know if the Spanish TVEi and French TV5 news and current affairs channels are included in the free station package ? They are in the 'More/International' options (I subscribe to Sky) Something you certainly don't get with freeview.

    Many thanks,
    Mark

Hi Joe, it's a refurbished Ipod shuffle and you need to do a search for it on the Dixons site as it's not showing on that page. I've clarified that in the first post.

Sorry I’ve not read all the thread so this may have been covered.
Would I be right in thinking that a big advantage on this deal over free view,
Is that I would have a HD feed when the BBC occasionally broadcast it.

No TVEi and TV5 are not free on this package but you will get overseas news channels like Euronews, France 24, Russia Today and Al Jazeerah International (all English speaking) that are not on Freeview and you get channels such as Reality Tv and movie channels like Zone Horror, Zone Thriller, TrueMovies 1 & 2 and Movies4Men 1 & 2 on Sky Freesat and not on Freeview. Also Legal Tv, Wine Tv, Overseas Property Channel, Baby Tv and loads of others stuff which is minority interest but most certainly not shopping channels.

I just signed up with Sky on a Pay Once Watch Forever bought from Asda for my Mum in June but only just given to her for her birthday (I should have waited and got a free ipod too).

    A few points on that:-

    (a) Sky personnel on the dedicated Pay Once Watch Forever number are confident that the unwanted direct debit issue no longer exists and has been solved.

    (b) They will let you sign up on any 2 Mixes free and also change those Mixes once a month free rather than restricting you to the 2 Mixes shown in the Pay Once Watch Forever packaging.

In total there are far more free channels on Sky Freesat than Freeview but clearly for Mr or Ms Teenage style victim who must watch what all his school mates watch then the absence of E4, TMF and The Hits are likely to be a little disappointing. For the rest of us older people not having to run with the pack the total channel lineup on Sky Freesat is much better than Freeview

Plus there are loads of places like my Mum's house where you will not be able to get all Freeview channels before 2012 without a £200+ aerial upgrade, even though at Freeview switcchover existing aerials are likely to then prove perfectly adequate.................

This is why Sky Freesat is a better deal for some of us but not as much for those of you with good Freeview reception on all channels.

The main question is what will be the bottom price of BBC Freesat next year. I think the point of Sky Pay Once Watch Forever is to make the BBC quake in their boots as they could only install a box for £75 at a significant loss on every installation given the amount of labour and travelling time involved plus box and dish cost for each install. Even the cheapest Sat box still costs £40 and you are talking around 2 hour's labour for each install including travelling time.
