Hiya everyone :hello: and welcome to all the new peoples and returnersAlso throw into the pot that my wrist will be in plaster until at least mid-month (which makes cooking my normal meals nigh on possible, so I'm likely to be shopping for convenience foods a few times a week) and I may be cutting it close by month endWell so much for the plan to use up but you have to go with a bargain/
it was just 15mins to closing so I think what was left would just be binned.Ideas time please! We are camping for 5 nights over this weekend with nothing but a cool box (albeit we can plug it in to the hook up, hopefully). I need some ideas of thing to cook on a 2 ring burner with ingredients that we can avoid keeping in the cool box if possible.
Any ideas welcome, I have a fairly well stocked cupboard so anything goes! :TThanks, Vicky x
I have managed quite well on my reduced budget this month :)and so will have another try at
£200 again for August (1st - 31st) please
I'm still in July until the bitter end as my months are always calendar ones. See you all later and good luck to all you new achievers :j
Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday

I have just logged on and found the last time I was on the forum in any way was in August 2013 .
Starting with the simple stuff first to get control again so may I join the August Grocery Challenge today although I don't really get paid until Thursday but I need to get control fast.
Please put me down for £150.00 for the month although I hope to be way under that as we have a holiday booked at the end of August which needs money saving for.
Will be back later to update as need to do small shop at M********.0 -
Hi, I'd like to join in this month.
Food & household items budget is £250 for the month and will run from the 31st July - 28th August (Although we are going on holiday end of Aug but its self catering so!)
First month doing this so fingers crossed!
Thanks!0 -
Well, I have only spent £9.10 at M******** & that included items for my easy bran loaf which will help with DH's pack up for the rest of the week.
Pleased with only spending this amount, also received £1.50 off next £20.00 shop so will use this on Fri/Sat when I next go shopping.
Bread maker on & fruit for bran loaf soaking in milk so now for lunch.0 -
Hi all - quickly updating my spend so far before daughter wakes from nap. £51 at Sains on Sunday followed by a £7.78 top up shop there on Monday.
Not overly convinced we will stay within budget this month - may have to rethink things slightly.
Will update signature shortly.GC August 2014 - 179.84 / 3300 -
Hi
I am new to MSE and I have was lurking in the background for the July 2014 Grocery Challenge. I was amazed on how people budgeted their money for the month. There are only 2 of us and we cook everything from fresh, our budget normally comes between £300-£400this covers everything needed in the house food & cleaning etc. I have read people manage on far less with more people in a household so this gave me the encouragement to want to change as for 2 I think this is a hell of a lot.
I would like to join, for August, 2014 I would like to put £350 as the budget
I have already done some shopping so far and spent £88.10. Once I have worked out how to update my signature I will post it in there. My month starts from 28th July 2014.
Thanks x

Once I have worked out how to update my signature I will post it in there.
You can do this through the User CP if you haven't already figured it out.
Our first August shop will be on Saturday and I'm busy working on a meal plan now. Friday's dinner will be baked potatoes with whatever we have left over from this week - I have a curry going in the slow cooker and a chilli on the hob as I type, so hopefully there'll be plenty to choose from.
Good luck to everyone taking part!0
