  • Declaring £190/£200 for August. We're really pleased with that because we normally spend £200 in a 4 week month and August was a 5 week month. I didn't track spends the penny and I stopped posting but we stuck to the budget (no choice!). We ate a lot more pulses and I made cakes instead of buying cereal bars and biscuits.

Now to start working out the September budget!

just had a MrT shop delivered so I'm now £10 over. I'm hoping though that some of these bits will last part way through September. Hopefully with the schools/college back I can drop the budget again. Determined to get out of the £300s.

Spent £38.35 in aldi today using up most of the vouchers from the paper. Lots of things that we usually use so that was a bonus!
I will do the weekly shop on Sunday to use up the other vouchers!
Hubby is pleased as we now have weetabix, porridge and there is fruit in the fruit bowl!

Just edited my signature and can't believe how much money I have left. I should be well under this month! I would have thought we would have been over budget as it is the hols but I suppose I am eating less, therefore hubby is eating less snacks. We also have been out for lunch a few more times that we would normally so maybe that's why. Anyway! Really pleased although there's is no money left in the account as I have bought some Christmas pressies this month!

Again,I am very pleased school uniforms don't come out of the grocery budget for this challenge. Also pleased I don't have to buy uniforms every month .(Today spent £122 on school shoes for 3 children, and 4 skirts for eldest daughter was another £25).Don't think she needs new blouses.
    So,while in ASDA I spent £37.99 on groceries.This did include £15 worth of dish-washer tablets at a bargain (Fairy citrus,pkt of 51 for £5).
I picked up 2 copies of the Mirror for the £5 off vouchers, but there is about a week on those,so not rushing to use them in August. From now to the end of the month might only have to buy milk and fruit.
    So,total for August is £206.65
    Really pleased with this.

    Hi everyone,

I'm declaring for the month at £200.38 - 38p over budget which is most annoying!

I'm proud of sticking to this in a 5 week month though, we normally spend about £50 per week over 4 weeks and we've both been at home more so it just goes to show we can trim the budget if we stick to meal planning and get creative.

See you all in the September thread, well done to everyone who's competed so far and good luck to those still going! :)

    Hello all,

I am declaring for this month at £281.47/£300 Woo hoo! Under budget, freezer, fridge and cupboards (except a few items), are full to the brim!!! As I spent this last week cooking up to fill the freezer.

Hopefully September will be a fairly low spend month, due to trying to whittle down my back stock and then I'll replace after I've moved.
Also my dd, ds are having school meals and ds is free due to new gov idea.

Good luck to all those left here, see you in September.
