  • I need to pop to the shop today to pick up a few bits needed for the menu planner next week. Hoping to bring it in for under £20. That should be my last shop of the week then. Payday on Friday and will have a big Mr T delivery on Sunday.

Bit of an expensive shopping day yesterday.

Started off by splashing out on some really good bread from the bakery - £2.40. Bank holiday treat. Very narrowly resisted getting a croissant too.

Then £2 on £1 bowl of apples and another of clementines, while I was out. Wish I hadn't. The clementines are so dry they're crunchy. Apples went in a crumble with the blackberries though, so they're fine :)

Then £9.78 at Lidl, of which about £5 was me stocking up on paneer while it was on offer. Also oats, eggs and olive oil.

Then another £5.98 at the Turkish shop on vegetables and herbs.

All of which comes to £20.16.

    £63.26/£90

    Hello all,
Thanks to greyingpilgrim for info on free book downloads, some of the recipes look great and cost effective!

I went to Ald! yesterday and spent £65.38 then to te$co spending £5.63 on special offers. So a total of £71.01 to add to sig now.

Now off to cook a large batch of Vegetable bolognaise, batch of kidney beans, 2 loaves of bread, 6 pizza crusts, 8 burgers and spicy turkey sausage patties. Ready for this weeks meals and topping up the freezer.

I also need to make chocolate beetroot brownies, Blackberry cake, Traffic light jelly, spiced carrot bread and finally banana pancakes for a large family/children's friends pyjama party and large breakfast!!!

    Best get started, lol.

  • Well came in at £21.48 so only just over the £20 I had hoped to spend. Makes the total £240.15 which is great as I normally spend £300 each month. Don't think I'll need to spend anything now as I got all the bits I needed to last the week.

Looking forward to doing a full month next month and not just jumping in halfway through.

  • piglet27 - thank you for your kind comment :D I had a bash at making the breakfast pancakes from 'Good and Cheap'. Lush :D

I put a post up about it, have a look HERE - if you are good at making muffins, this is the recipe for you, coz apparently, the less you are able to mix the batter, the fluffier the pancakes :D I made 1/2 mix, but definitely a keeper of a recipe :D

I had my home food shop this morning from Te%co and what was meant to be a small £25 order has ended up costing me nearly £120. I'm not sure why I spent so much. At the last minute (before we went out last night) I added a couple of bottles of wine and then decided to get the Mr T meal deal instead of having indian takeaway this evening. Unfortunately the meal deal idea backfired. They substituted the wine for none offer wine and I'm £6.94 poorer for it.

Given the total I posted yesterday of £475.26, my total now stands at £593.05 and I'm sure there will still be spends this coming week. I really must rein in. I've had a sort through my freezer today and now stop spending and use up what I have/meal plan.
