  • Feeling a bit OS today (well and yesterday ~_^). My Mum offered me some veg from her garden and freezer (overflow) and I said yes please whatever you have spare - she brought me 1/2 a huuuuuge cucumber (I've never seen one so big!), red lettuce, runner beans, tomatoes, cooking apples and blackberries. I made crumble with half the apples and blackberries, I'm making tomato soup tomorrow (getting free basil in our veg box), going to slice and blanch the runner beans and we can have salad at some point. Today I am making a chicken, tomato and orzo pasta soup with my leftover chicken and homemade stock from Sunday's roast dinner.

NSD yesterday, need to go out today to get some lunch things for tomorrow, got a friend and her children coming over and we're having a picnic (possibly indoors).

    Updated signature with current total.
Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

Payday tomorrow so I've just updated my total for the month and have come in under budget again - 3rd month in a row:T; am at £223.01/£250. As we go away next weekend I'm hoping that the remaining £26.99 will be enough for fresh fruit & veg during next week - may also need some more eggs but not sure at the moment.

I won't be joining the September challenge as I will be away for most of it but will rejoin again in October. I'd really like to be able to get our monthly budget down to £200 but I just don't seem to be able to make it (it doesn't help that DH likes to have meat every day but I'm gradually getting him round to a meat free meal from time to time!)

It includes the odd bottle of wine but most wine comes from the holiday budget as we stock up when we go to France!

Sorry I haven't posted sooner, but I didn't have too much time to check out all my expenses till now.

CZK953/1400 so far, so I'm hoping to make it this month :-). However I'm getting sick of pizza / pasta almost every day :-D. JK, but I eat them more that I would have liked. But they are cheap and tasty...

I made HM anko (Japanese red sweet beans) - I love it and often have it instead of sweets.

To save money, I started making my own spreads. I use Czech alternative of Ricotta (its more creamy and milky, it was called spread butter, but nice EU forbade the usage of that name, since it might confuse customers and didn't contain enough % of fat) Well, the same nice example as it was shown in Yes, Minister (or PM?), I love that sitcom.
