£150 left and three weekly shops left of the month.
Tomorrow I am popping to Morrison to get meat and a few offers but hopefully not a lot.
Then will nip over the road to f foods for milk, fruit and veg. I haven't meal planned all week and looked at my full freezer tonight and really struggled to pull something together. I need to be more organised and remember to get things out in the morning! If hers crossed!

debt free as of feb 2015. Now saving for deposit for new house! Moving in June 2015!!!
  • Small spend of $25 on dog and cat biscuits. We have been adopted by a very cute feral kitten that appears to be living under the deck. I hate to think of it being hungry, so have started to feed it, much to the disdain of the resident cat and dog!

Neighbour arrived with two calves that we will raise for the freezer, so OH is feeding them from the calfeteria. We had decided not to raise any this year, but forgot to tell neighbour who thinks he owes us a favour or two! Still they are beautiful, Angus/Friesian cross, black with white faces and very friendly.

Beautiful day here today, sun is streaming into the lounge, fire is going for background warmth, and I think today will be spent in the gardens.
    Cheers

I was so pleased to find a Sun on the train yesterday, with voucher still intact! We went to Morries after dinner and stocked up on mince in particular, as Hubbs is craving chilli. Spent like £11, but receipt is AWOL, so will have to check my bank statement.

    Hi all,

Sorry I've been AWOL for a few days - we are off on our holidays tomorrow so I've been washing/packing/stressing over that!

    Budgets updated to here :)

    Welcome/welcome back to:
Lizling, stiltoncheese, keepcalmanddrinktea, tazzyb, wannabehermit and Dawning :D

    Good luck all.

I will be away until 30th August so will miss the start of the September GC unless I can get wifi in Cyprus! Here's hoping (otherwise the children will be unbearable) we can.

Overspent for August by about £30 - naughty me, but consoled myself with some HM Weetabix brownies today which cheered me up no end ;)

Will log on when I can.

Hi everyone and a warm welcome to new peoples and returners :hello:
Hi Coxy - thanks for all your hard work and hope you have a splendiferous holiday (with or without the wifi) :D

Spent £12.75 at Al*i mainly milk, f & v and large pack chicken breasts to make curry over week-end (having cravings for something really spicy  )

Then went to Morrys and met up with DH to spend 2 x vouchers. So for £14.63 we have 6 x portions salmon, LARGE leg shank of Lamb, pack of smoked mackerel, 2 x 500ml fat-free Yogs (offer = £1.50) and pack chestnut mushrooms. So that is base of 10 Meals :j

Total spent today was £27.38 which still means we have about £5 a day to end of month. Should be doable fingers xd. ;)

We had salmon tonight with croquette pots, peas and sweetcorn (all freezer) with HM hollandaise sauce. Very yum :D

Hope you all have a super Saturday

Good afternoon all and welcome to all newbies,

Spent £39.79 yesterday at a$da, stocking Bf up with hm pre-prepared slow cooker meals, (he just has to dump whichever bag into slow cooker before work and a hot cooked meal is ready for him, when he gets home) otherwise he will exist on cereal until Tuesday lunchtime!

Also spent £11 on home items (ready for new house) separate budget and £2 on face cream to add to toiletries budget. No veg box delivered this week as Bf is on his own, no veg needed! lol.

Doing quite well so far I think, will update budgets now.

Enjoy your weekend and will be back on Tuesday.

  • Thanks for all the welcomes :)

I will need to pop to the shop later to pick up bread and milk and ham, and probably some fruit for my son too. Hoping to spend less than £10.00. I will need some yoghurts later on in the week, but I'm hoping I can grab those on Wednesday when I'm back in the office as I can get them cheaper in town than I can in the local shop.

Less than 2 weeks until payday so hoping I can bring the final spend in this month to £250 instead of the £300 I have allocated. We'll see though lol. Looking forward to joining in properly next month when I can budget properly with a full month's menu planner done.

Hi all, I spent another $8.20 today on soybeans and gluten flour.

The soybeans should make 6-7 1-litre batches of soy milk, which would last me until halfway through September. So it was an overbuy for this grocery challenge....but I wanted to see how much it would cost to fill up the container I use at the bulk bin shop, the one that is similar in volume to the old glass coffee jars in my food cupboard. Now I know that if I take that container, and fill it up to the brim, I will be able to make enough soy milk to cover the whole month for ~$6. And filling up the gluten flour jar will costs ~$3 and last 3 months.

Think that's my last shop for August, fingers crossed.

I remember going to a bulk buy shop with my Mum when I was a kid (so many years ago!) I've not seen once since, it's a shame really.

Ok I think it's been a few days since updating :)

Friday was almost an NSD I was so proud of myself I made it all the way through the farmers market, past Asda and home without buying anything! Then I realised I needed coconut milk for the evening meal, as I couldn't get any when I ordered my online delivery. So I decided to go to Lidls for a change of scenery - they didn't have any, so I went to Sainsburys and my NSD turned into a spend more than needed day :o

Yesterday was an NSD even though we had not much in for lunch - DH made one of his interesting concoctions for DS and himself for lunch, DD had bits and bots (she's weaning so can be easier to feed right now) and I had marmalade toast and butter (yum!)

Today I have to get potatoes, carrots and gravy (though I will probably attempt to make my own) for the roast dinner, plus bread - I cut my thumb open and don't fancy messing with dough while it's yucky looking and I just can't get on with the bread maker.

    Have a good sunday everyone!

Oh I forgot - I'm getting chicken quarters in my meat box on Friday and I'm trying to menu plan. Was wondering what to do with the breast part - would it be wasteful to cut the breast off for using then roast the wing bone for stock? I don't really know what else to do with it :o

  • Nipped to the shop and ended up spending £13.44 so slightly more than the £10 max I had earmarked. Brings my monthly spend up to £211.97 so far. 2 weeks to go and we still only need fresh bits and bobs, so still hoping to bring it in at £250.
