I've felt like rubbish all weekend, but managed to shop yest as I had to take bf while he has no car. Got loads for my money, incl lots of cherries and raspberries. Spent £18 in total, but a bit of that is not gc, so will report back with actual spend. Pleased, as I allow myself £1pppd, so I had around £15-£20 to spend to stay ahead of the game this month. Feeling good, now need to focus on not mucking up the last ten days of the month, as is my habit!!!

    Hi,

Three NSDs to report (Thurs, Fri and Today) so 10 in total! Saturday shop was spread between the market, a butcher, a specialist cheese shop, tesc0 and a1di. Mostly from the list but the extortionate cooked meat (£4 for 6 fairly thin slices) and a fair sized pork pie (£1.99) for lunch account for the extra - took out own buttered bread hoping to save money too .
Spend of £56.19 in total so £113.20/£300 spent and only 2 more shops til the new budget comes in!

Incidentally, if, like me, your OH insists on wholegrain rice (don't understand how processed rice can be so much cheaper than unprocessed), tesc0 have got the tilda wholegrain basmati 1kg for £3. Not bad since the 500g bag is £2.59.

    Off to update siggy.

Hiya - we found sugar in Li*l last week for 69p :j

Thanks cw18 - They CLAIM to be cheaper than shopping in the supermarkets - but that's based on (mainly) organic produce. I don't think they are very MSE especially after the first one with introductory discount, and actually still need to be convinced that they're cheaper than supermarkets etc. For me it's all about trying new things - be that new ingredients, new combinations of ingredients, or new ways of cooking ingredients.

Think I'll stick to making my own. I love cookery books and now of course there is browsing on the net. I often just put in what-ever main ingredient I have and browse for something new. Or sometimes see something in a mag or newspaper and follow up. I also buy things on SO or YS and then find a recipe - which is occasionally a bit strange (well I tell DH it's just something different) :rotfl: I have been known to stand in the SM and read the ingredients and cooking instructions on a ready-meal so I can copy at home

Had a lovely 'brunch' today of YS smoked salmon, SO asparagus, poached eggs, toasted rolls and HM hollandaise sauce. We then had HM soup (LO oxtail stew from freezer)with added cooked new pots and mixed beans, spiced up with some garlic and chilli for tea followed by berries and HM yoghurt :D

Hope you all have a magical Monday

I am so glad Im back! Just reading through the posts gives me such encouragement! Went to A*ldi today, spent @£25 on stuff to make my meals for the week for me and OH. I made a gingerbread and a banana walnut loaf with stuff lurking in my cupboard and overripe nanas instead of chucking out. Very pleased with myself and OH is chuffed cos I haven't baked for two years. Gosh I enjoyed it!!

I've written up a meal plan with what's in the cupboards to run to a week Friday so I'll only need to pick up some fresh bits, probably from l!dl when I go into town. Then I'll do a second big shop on the 18th.

So far so good on the no shopping front was tempted to nip in today as I'd paid parking but resisted the urge.

Got plenty of flour etc to make breads, if oh would just drink his coffee black like me that'd mean even less trips to the shop!
