Forgot to add ASDA have put the prices of the nappies we use up from £5 to £6.71 not such as small amount when you work out that it's a 34.2% price increase!

also just put my receipt code through the price guarantee doodah on the ASDA website and got a voucher for £1.58. I never usually bother but think I will make sure I do it from now on as I always use ASDA for nappies and formula at the very least :)

    Hi all!

So I just made this quiche from some leftover gammon/ham and some YS broccoli that I got for 7p last week... I took an online recipe and changed it quite significantly to suit what I had in, so thought I would post it here because it is really easy and super delicious, and didn't cost me anything... You could very much adapt this to suit whatever you have laying around! :D

    Ham & Broccoli Quiche

    Serves 4-6

    Ingredients:
shortcrust pastry (either HM or premade)
100g gammon/ham, chopped into small pieces
½ head broccoli, blanched and chopped
    1 small onion, diced
    3 eggs
    150ml semi-skimmed milk
    100g extra-mature Cheddar cheese, grated

    Method:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan oven), gas 6
    Grease/line a 20cm/7inch tin
Roll and carefully press the pastry onto the base and sides of the tin. Neatly trim the overhanging pastry with a sharp knife. Use a piece of baking parchment to line the pastry base roughly and cover it with baking beans or scrunched up foil. Put on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the paper and beans or foil and bake for a further 5 minutes.
While the pastry is baking, mix the ham with the onions. Break the eggs into a wide jug with the milk and seasoning. Whisk lightly.
Sprinkle half the cheese over the base of the pastry case, then top with the onion, broccoli and ham. Pour over egg/milk mixture evenly. Scatter the remaining cheese on top.
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden and just firm to the touch.

  • Hi Everyone

My first trip into a dreaded supermarket so far this month, still need to nip to the Ic3land later for the very special ribs OH has requested.

Spent 9.15 in Mr M on enough stuff to hopefully see me through till Saturday, mainly packup stuff for me, some Veg to fill out HM & Easy freezer meals for OH and the all important bread, milk and bin bags lol.

Think tonight will be a something on toast tea neither of us wanted roast this weekend. My packup for work is all made, YS billionaires shortcake, basics ham sandwich's, an apple and some twiglets. Will make my breakfast shake to consume on the commute in later so should be all set.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and kept those pesky purse pixies under control.

Was trying for an NSD today but realised I needed an onion for tonight's dinner grrr. Ended up going to the greengrocers and buying an onion, leek, a pear, punnet of flat peaches, raspberries and strawberries for £6.06.

Made flapjack, nervously awaiting the final cool down to see if and how it comes out of the pan! Also made coconut ice with leftover condensed milk and coconut mmmmm :)

£6.95 added to signature for ribs, bacon, meatballs and crisps for OH.

Which leaves us still under budget for this point in the month.... so far so good.:j

Another NSD - I had porridge, toast & jam for breakfast, lunch was a lovely mix of brie, chorizo and LO tuna mayo with salad and spinach leaves from the garden, followed by Bakewell tart. Was going to have a hot chicken & veg for tea, but with all the sport on the telly, I couldn't be bothered so made a pizza. Frozen base topped with tomato paste, cheese and the chicken was mixed with a bit of fajita mix. Berries and yogurt. Also had an apple & orange during the day.

Terrible month last month :o, so trying to make up the difference this month. So instead of normal target of £250, I'm aiming for a target of £187. Am half way through my month so far (till 20th) and already spent £120.59 grrrr! Oh well, nothing like a challenge - just gonna have to pull up my socks and stop spending!!! ;)
