    Hi,

Thanks to all of you keeping this thread going! It helped me loads last month. Came in *just* under budget but things got a bit confused mid-month with certain parties pilfering from the grocery cash pot but admitting to nothing (they were sanctioned spends I expect but it's mighty confusing when the spreadsheet says £170 remaining but the pot says £60).

I've got some of last month's batch cooked stuff and some quorn, chicken and mince in the freezer so I'm hoping to keep costs down a bit. I'm also hoping that I can up the healthy food quota this month - more fruit really as veg is usually fine, and more fresh fish. With that in mind, I'll stick to the same budget of £300 for July.

My month started on the 25th and runs to 25th July and not spent a penny of this budget yet so 6 NSD under the belt :A - going for 15 in all!

    Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone, hope you have all had a good day! :)

It's July 1 here and I have just got back from my first and biggest shop for the month.

Before I left I put 8 containers of split pea/barley/vegetable soup in the freezer, made yesterday in the crockpot to use up the old stock before the new stock comes in. My little 80l freezer is now stuffed FULL. :D

I got popping corn and gluten flour from the bulk bin shop ($3.90), 4 soy drinks (all they had and I'll have to go back tomorrow for another 2) from the first supermarket ($10.00) and wholemeal flour, peanut butter, sultanas, brown rice, and frozen peas from the second ($9.40).

So I have $11 left of my $34.30 food money and $30.30 for other stuff.

By the end of my shop I knew the first supermarket had the best deal on toothpaste, so I'll pick up a $5 economy tube tomorrow when I get the rest of the soy drink.

Looking forward to catching up on the thread now...

    Morning all,

Today I will do a kitchen audit, before heading out to the shop. I am trying a different tack this month, I am going to take out £200 cash for the monthly food shopping, then leave my debit card at home when I hit the shops.

Need to spend as little as possible this month :(
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Islandmaid, that is exactly what I have done this time around... We used to have a weekly budget when DH was paid weekly, but now our income is monthly we have decided to take all the money out now and make it last... Debit cards can be a dangerous thing to wield when you nip for "a few bits" ...

NSD here today, also forgot that the boys (I have two sons aged 7 & 9) are at beavers/cubs camp tonight, so are eating there... So DH and I are having some breaded fish from the freezer, we can save the spagbol for another night! :D

Just spent £69.65 on an online Tesco shop, which I'm hoping will last the month with top ups of fresh stuff: milk, bread and fruit and veg, which I'll probably get from Aldi.
Another £5.56 to be spent in Aldi tomorrow on cheese and hay fever tablets.

I am in again for this month please - with a £225 budget. Ignore my sig as didn't keep up with June spends as we were away for 30th Anniversary holiday and then moving DS to new home so things have been hectic to say the least!!! Didn't need to do a big monthly shop as lots of items unused so hoping to come in under budget?!

Will probably not post regularly but will be following thread with interest.

A big thanks to Zippy for the thread, Coxy for the budgets and Blue-green for the recipes. It is making such a difference.

Have been shopping to get more fruit & veg and various jars of pickles which all seemed to run out at the same time. Also picked up some shower gel in Sainsbugs as they had the one I use @ 2 for £3.00, single price £2.75!

Spent a total of £23.84 in 3 SMs. Will update signature shortly.
