I spent £7.94 today on some half price healthy snacks at my local Grapetree. £1 a bag for dry roasted peanuts, £1.25 for wakko mix (rice crackers) and 95p for bombay mix. These will do the kids after school snacks for the next 2 weeks hopefully! I already have today's dinner in the fridge.

First of the month and my first spends.

I took my best friend out for lunch which came to £14, we then popped to Home Bargains where I spent £4 on cereals and biscuits for the snack drawer and finally we went to Tescos for some lactofree milk but of course I bought other bits and pieces too so I spent £6 in there.

I am trying to be more aware of where the money goes and today was a steep learning curve. I didn't even remember I was doing this challenge till I got back to the car! I am so used to flinging whatever I fancy into a trolley so from now on that stops.

Nothing spent today. I'm hoping for 20 NSD's this month, good start with Day 1 :)

Got a chicken cooking for tea (having chicken leg, rice and peas) and attempting a HM quiche ready for my tea tomorrow, had left over pastry so thought I'd give it a try.

Took a trip to Costc0 today (had to be done at some point this week, and OH was going straight from work so it gave me an extra chance to see him ;)), but by my normal standards I got away very lightly - £26.78 spent.

    3x 8 pack brown part-baked baguettes
    1x 1kg natural yoghurt
    1x 3 fruit cakes
    1x 400g hard goats cheese

all the above for taking away with me at the weekend (away for 13 days, with OH joining me 5 days in)

    also got
1x 1.3kg set honey (slightly dearer than I pay at A1di, but I find the one from there is still a bit runnier than I like for toast)
    and
1x 9 packs seaweed. Taking a bit of a chance with this as I've never had before, but I know OH likes it so will take it off my hands if I don't. Normally comes as 10 packs, but there was one reduced by about £1.20 because one of the 10 was missing (and if all there they're only 50-something pence each, which means the 9 were cheaper per pack as well ;)) Been trying to find a local Mr T who stock it (shows on website if I don't log in), but theirs is £1 for a tiny, tiny pack (under a third the size of a Costc0 one) which makes it very expensive by comparison.

  • My target for July is £375 as DD1 is home from university for the summer and eats enough for a small army!

Had my first July spend today - £82 in Aldi. I got loads of meat, tinned stuff, pasta, rice and other dry goods (enough for the month hopefully) and bin bags dog food and other household stuff. I also got enough stuff to make 36 cupcakes, which I will get paid for so that will go back in the kitty when I do get it.

Just had pork chops for tea, and Dd2 and her visiting friend are having macaroni and cheese with garlic bread -

Hope you are having a nice evening!
    Jane
