I'm not sure if this has been answered in this thread but after reading the terms and conditions am I right in thinking that I have up to 6 months from account opening to switch my account to get the voucher?

I'm currently awaiting a switch bonus from another account and there's another switch I want to do before switching to M&S...but I really want to get access to their 6% regular saver asap. I'm not massively fussed about the voucher since I don't shop in M&S but I might as well go for it if it's available.

First Direct and HSBC also have a 6% regular saver account (M&S, First Direct and HSBC are all part of the HSBC GROUP.)
Have checked what they offer for switching?

One drawback with M&S is their online banking - you need their security token to do anything.

They have also recently launched a fast balance app - similar to HSBC's one. Only problem - as I found out when I tried to register - is that the M&S app won't work on your phone/ipad etc if you have the HSBC fast balance app already.

You can either have the HSBC app or the M&S app but not both. M&S are aware of this issue - but they don't advertise it.

    Thanks for this

I tried to download the M&S app back in July as I detest the little 'belt & braces widget' with a passion:( but it wouldn't accept the activation code.

    Now I'm torn :(

Yeah M&S's online banking sucks and it's the only bank whose online system I can't use at work (can't use electronic items including security token).

However, the £100 gift card did pay for a nice winter coat (with plenty left over) so I can't really complain. :rotfl:

Seems straightforward to me so far.

I applied online last Thursday. Had an email a couple of hours later asking me to phone. I phoned, they just wanted to clarify how I was going to fund the account. Then about 30 minutes later I got an email to confirm I'd been accepted.

Yesterday, I got a letter, with some documents to sign, which I've posted back today.

You expect these non clearing banks to be less automated than the big banks.

    But it seems pretty easy.

M&S online banking is First Direct in white. They most likely have a carbon copy of the back office systems too. Although for some weird reason, M&S opted for a useless mobile app.

my switch date was October 16, but it's not happened yet.
Did this happen to anyone else?

Sorry if it's been asked already, but someone's just made me aware they are part of the same HSBC group.
Would switching from 1st Direct to M&S, still enable me to qualify for the voucher?

As it's now over six months since joining, I'm hoping to get the "£125 Switch away" bonus from 1st Direct at the same time. :j

Does M&S still require any DD's for switching, I can't see anything on the t&c's or have I missed it?
