OT: Is there a way to merge with or transfer the paper Giftcard on to a plastic one?

Hope this hasn't been answered before, but has anyone successfully opened another a/c with m7S after receiving the first voucher and switching the M&S a/c onwards ? (did this a month or so ago)

    thanks

I think Archibald has but he put £1 in a savings account before re-opening a current account by phone for the regular saver (I think £250 might have gone through it too).

I know someone who tried after not putting any money in since receiving the giftcard and switching out and they declined the application saying "while your credit score was acceptable, data indicates you may be an unfavourable customer"(!)

M&S, as First Direct are, seem quite picky with applications.

True, I had used my M&S current account to collect the switching bonus only, and then promptly switched to the Coop.

Before I switched that M&S current account, and to save myself from having to wait for online access to M&S Banking in the future (should M&S have another attractive offer in the future), I had opened an online savings account and put a £1 into it. So they didn't take my online access away after I switched the current account.

Lo and behold, a few months down the line, the M&S 6% Regular Savings product came along and I could quickly open another current account [on the phone]. The M&S savings account has a sort code and account number, so I was able to transfer £250 for the initial payment into the regular saver, and could get the regular saver started on the same day.

I signed up via the MSE likk to get a £125 gift card, but it arrived yesterday and is only £100.
Has anyone else had this, and how did you resolve it?

    Hi all,

I switched back in November. Didn't there used to be a requirement for two Direct Debits in the switch? There doesn't appear to be now?

We're just looking at my wife doing a sole switch so we can both get regular savers. Maybe I did a couple of DDs just for the look of the thing? It'd save a lot of faff if we don't need to do DDs!

Don't use a long word when a diminutive one will suffice.
  • I didn't need them in December, don't know about earlier than that.
