I switched back in November. Didn't there used to be a requirement for two Direct Debits in the switch? There doesn't appear to be now?
There's never been a requirement to switch anything for the M&S gift card.

Other than an account balance I guess. :)

Don't use a long word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Some people have reported switching a zero balance successfully.

Personally, when switching dormant accounts I always dump, say, £50 in and set up a couple of small value SOs to my other accounts (even if the switch T&Cs don't demand it). I let them go once, then initiate the switch. Only delays things by a day or two, but gives a little authenticity!

Nice tip, thanks for that, yep SOs are certainly a little easier to setup/close :)

I've applied for the M&S current account online.

Whilst there are no requirements for DD's, paying in income etc their questions are the most thorough I've dealt with including value of my home!?

I ended up saying I will pay in my monthly income because I didn't think they would want me otherwise even though its not a requirement!

They unusually also don't or didn't in my case give an immediate online decision possibly because its a Bank Holiday weekend?

This is only half the battle, if accepted then I will need to commit to a Switch to get the £100;)

To kind answer my own questions above, today I received an email from M&S accepting me for a current account so that's seven days and one phone call I was asked to make earlier in the week where they asked about income and household bills amount (again).

Banks online don't work differently because it's a bank holiday with regards to online applications. There isn't someone on a weekday clicking OK as they recieve your application then it appears instant to you online. That would be such an incredible man power resource sink!

With M&S I would certainly recommend going down the branch application route - they can fight your case and lobby the Head Office people.

Can you use a Tesco Internet Saver account for the switch to gain £100 in vouchers?

I was just about to ask the same question. Has anyone used this direct debit as part of the switch and successfully received the voucher?

    Thanks!

Do the M&S switch offer terms exclude Tesco DDs, or any DDs?
