Oh dear, Sparky, you do sound upset about the house! (((hugs)))
Is it a new-build? Must admit I don't quite understand; when you're totting up the funds required, surely a deposit needs to come first on the list?
Btw, a while ago you said you're getting a decent rate of interest on your savings - please can I ask where? Am struggling to find anything paying over 1% at the moment (and that's a very limited a/c).

Hi Robin! lovely to hear from you.
It isn't a new build and yes I agree deposit is where you should start but they wanted us to see what was out there before talking in more detail. All they say on the matter is they will help out and want to see us in the property ladder.... although they seem keen on the house we like. We shall see, I just feel like they are now going back on the offer after we have spent ages trying to find somewhere.... As they won't commit to a figure we don't know where we stand.
With our savings we split them across a few:
Sant 123 - this is also our joint and main current account 3% on all over £3,000 up to £20,000
TSB current - 5% on up to £2,000
TSB saving linked to current account - 5% up to £250 monthly payments.
Santander I think you've got to pay £500 a month into and the same from TSB but I just move money around and that satisfies the minimum requirements.

Hi Sparky, :hello:
Thanks for the info; noted. :T0 -
Heya Sparky,
Really sorry to hear about the worries on the house move that sounds really frustrating, it's nice they have offered to help but how are you supposed to know what is affordable for you to look out without knowing what the help consists of? I hope you get some better news soon I really do

Hi all
Yes house stuff is difficult but never mind! We had a lovely (if very tiring) weekend treating our mums in lots of different ways it was so special and cost a fair bit but justified this by the fact we go on our hols on Wednesday and therefore used a couple of weeks shopping budget! Plus we are using all the left overs before we go away...
Moneywise DH did a transfer onto his b/card (fixed 6.9% for life) so now only has 1 cc but balance is £4k, plus his loan c£5k. He has paid off his overdraft (yay!) and store card. I spent ages going through the snowball calculator with him showing his new payrise of £400 net a month going as additional debt repayment and that he could have paid off his card by November if he made the payments £550 a month which is totally affordable and he can sort himself out then. I am really pleased - much better position than I thought.
My loan only has 4 payments left of £218 so thats exciting and then I will be totally debt free! As I have said a few times no point in overpaying as the penalties mean that I would pay more off as a lump sum than as the monthly payments.
All in all great news. I hope everyone else is well xxx

Morning all
So this weekend I was really busy and ate badly so what did I do today? Instead of going to the gym I bought a mini tube of pringles and a chocolate bar. Now I feel sick! Although this is my first 'off' day for a long time (that time of the month) and I will get back on track tomorrow.
How is everyone? Hope all is well.
Moneywise holiday was good and we hardly spent anything - I have made DH pay off more and more debt (again great!) and I managed to save £500 this month. this is first on my reduced Brizzle salary so long may it continue! Although at the rate I am going its likely to all be eaten up in stamp duty.....
Hope everyone else is well xx

My birthday is next week! We did a car boot at the weekend and made £100 so using that for a day out and meal plus saving the rest.
I made sure I sorted myself out this morning and went to the gym before work as its too busy at lunch time at the moment, so trying to restrain myself! Although thinking of this as my birthday week so still enjoying a little.... plus Easter!! But not too bad if that makes sense?!
