  • Afternoon all

Its freezing here - no snow but heavy frosts that aren't clearing all day which is very unusual.

I have decided that I am going to do the

The 8-week Blood Sugar Diet: Lose weight fast and reprogramme your body.

I go away in 7 weeks but will start on Monday. Hopefully gives me a little more of a head start and can continue on the return - the science behind it is really interesting and I really need to do something.

I am doing a TRUE 5:2 and gym 5 times week and I have not lost a single pound since 1st week of January - so 2 weeks without anything!

So this is a radical low carb diet but its also a focus on health and weight loss is just a benefit. I doubt it will be easy - especially as I like 'treats' when I have been good especially cider and chocolate (of course I monitor these and only do it when I have exercised that much etc). Something worth trying anyhow.

Its also £3 for the book which is half of what a meeting at WW or SW would be and both of which I have tried and failed at before - so not really much hope for me is there?!

Moneywise - I have managed to survive this month paying down even more of the CC's and nearly debt free (woo wooo) but I need to rein it in on the food shop - I just buy junk and spend too much so much nip that in the bud. ITs only the odd extra £3 here and there but it really adds up!

Also mentioned at my gym about corporate membership as several of us from the same company are going and reduced my monthly payment by £4.50 - not much but that is enough for a really yummy steak a month so all worth it.

Hope everyone else is well? xx

  • so 3 days into this new diet and I lost the weight I some how managed to put on since I started at the gym 3 months ago.... back to 111 KG so hoping only 20 or so to go until goal which after 3 days isn't bad really.

Its certainly helping with non spend days - managed 3 so far! haha.

I feel good too - not always hungry now just need to keep going for a few more weeks.

Moneywise we had a nightmare weekend. DH's car needed ANOTHER £400 spent on it. Thats so far:

bought for £3,650. New tyre within 2 weeks - £50. Then an ABS sensor went. Another £120.

Then MOT and Service plus bits - £500 then a few days later new tyre another £40.

Now another £400. Total - £4,760. Arghhh! Plus its really now only worth c£3k as golfs have really gone done in value.

Hopefully this will be the last of it for a while and we can put that money back in the savings...

    Hope you are all good?

  • Hello all!

Well I am down to 110kg…. I am pleased with that.
Moneywise I seem to spending an awful lot this month but on necessary things such as sun cream for the holiday, a steam mop (wanted one for AGES got a great one for £20!) which add up but needed all the same.
This diet also I thought was meant to be friendly on the bank balance but I still seem to be spending as much on food etc as before… must be reviewed!
I have also been reviewing these things for amazon and ended up not needing to buy shampoo for months now haha its great as they were free.
Loan is nearly below £1,000 yay, credit cards will be paid off this month so all in all a pretty damn good month so far…..

  • Hello all!

I am so close to being debt free its sooooo exciting. However - now the real saving starts.... I had to get a few bits and bobs for holiday ended up being over £100 but that does include new trainers ( I am going to the gym 5 times a week!) so savings are taking rather a huge hit at the moment but at least I can now plough the cc money back into them. I have also set up a savings account separate from everything else where I keep my money for annual spends such as car insurance and home insurance etc. Saving £100 a month into there and I can't see it on the normal screen when I log in but hopefully that will more than cover them plus extra. It also earns 5% so interest should be good too!

Weight wise I am down to 109KG which I am happy with hopefully knock off a few more this week.

  • Hello all!

Sadly holiday isn't until the begining of March so a little while still to go! Gives me a little more time on this diet.

LG - the diet is hard I'm not going to lie but I have seen some real results in a short amount of time so it keeps me going! Its not drinking that is the hardest, we normally share a bottle of wine over the week and then one or two at the weekend so I miss that! 800 calories also doesn't go very far if you eat out so trying to avoid that as much as possible! I've also noticed I cannot push myself as much in the gym. I used to run 5k in 28 minutes but at the moment I struggle with that. However, diet isn't for too long so I am sure once I go back to the 5:2 the gym will improve.

Moneywise been good this week had 3 NSD always help towards the target. Also I have been reminded that I need to claim my authorising body fees back now I have passed my probation form work so hopefully that is another £150 back in March.

I also had my tax code for 2016/17 back - and HMRC had still deducted the £96 tax I owed even though I paid it through self assessment in December. So half an hour on the phone to get that £96 back as they now cannot change my tax code. Annoying as it means my personal allowance is less for next year and therefore less each month. Now its not a huge amount but never mind.

I also only have 5 payments left on my loan! YAY! wish I could just get rid of it but the penalties mean that I would pay more than if I just make my normal monthly payments. 2nd July here we come. This is my only debt now so just want to remove it ASAP.....

DH might also be up for this promotion which could mean a huge payrise and life changing results. Crossing my fingers for that.

Hope everyone else is well?? xx

  • Well I've stuck to the diet and decided that I am only going to weigh myself at the gym! They told me I hadn't lost any weight? Think its because not a single floor of our house that doesn't have carpet is flat! Gym scales were matching so just using them now - down to 104kg. Pleased with that!

Money wise all good this week a=just plodding away as usual got an updated AIP for the mortgage less we can borrow this time but still all good and means we can continue to look at houses.

Hope everyone else is good?? x

  • Congrats on the weight loss again that is great, yes my scales are the same, i can only use them on the bathroom floor!

Bet you can't wait for July, it will be such a relief to have that loan off your back.

MASSIVE fingers crossed for hubby, I wish him all the best luck and hope it works out! When will you hear?

  • Hi all

A rather stressful weekend filled with loads of driving, pot holes and no where near enough confirmation on house we are going to buy a house.

So - let me explain about the house stuff.

Family members have been telling us to look at houses get an agreement in principle etc etc for ages naggging us sometimes too! So we have done so and need a 25% deposit. We have found a lovely house and its perfect. However when we went to visit this weekend we were given the third degree about how much we had saved up and how we were going to fund the purchase. Now we have enough for stamp duty and will have saved enough by the time it comes to it for all other fees etc but nothing then left for the deposit. They seemed disappointed and then wouldn't commit to anything other than they would like to help us to get on the ladder. I am a little gutted about this... I don't mind if they change their mind but since they won't tell us what they will do I just feel now we no longer know where we stand and what we can do moving forward. Why tell us you are going to help and do all the prep if then when it comes to it you don't want too?! They must have been aware that we will have no other help - I am one of six my mum and dad can't help as they can't afford it and I don't expect them too. I never would have started house hunting if this were to be the case as now we finally have almost got emotionally invested to just be told we are not being helped enough to proceed any more.... I find all it so frustrating. I am happy to knuckle down to being debt free and saving hard for our house but why give us this opportunity only to take it away....

Honestly not being ungrateful just upset.

Apart from that all is well! xx
