Thanks guys I am sure you are right its just typical when Is start trying to be good it all goes down hill!

We need another new tyre for DH's car, so today will be a spendy day.. £55.

I am also having to drive to work at the moment because of the rain! its not far but worry a) about putting the miles on my little fiat and b) the cost of the petrol.. but never mind.

Hope everyone else is good? xx

So today I went to the doctors and had a bit of a shock. As I have been honest with my money I guess I should be honest about my shock too. I have a BMI of 37!!! I was so shocked. This is scary and horrid and I really need to do something about it. I have somehow managed to put on over a stone since I have moved. Right, So the confession part. This has made me buy my own scales (bluetooth recommended ones) £20. Some new gym clothes £30. I also may join the local gym. Hopefully not too expensive but I need to sort this out otherwise I am going to be in big trouble!
The worst thing is in clothes wise, I am a 16 which I didn't think was too bad!! Right so, challenge is to try and get my BMI down, weight down, stay fit and get healthy by Christmas!

Spends have all come from savings, which are looking pretty healthy so I shouldn't feel bad about the spending. xx

  • My BMI is similar and I'm a size 18 ;) The scary thing is, I was a size 26 4 years ago!

I'm trying to cut down on the amount of sugar and processed food I eat, but tend to comfort eat so the results are erratic. The key is to change your lifestyle and attitude towards food: I'm more active than I was at my biggest and my eating habits are a lot better, though still pretty bad. I went from a size 18 to a 12 many years ago, but I did it through restricting my diet too much and because I hadn't changed my habits, they crept back in — especially during stressful times — and I regained the weight within 3 years.

I'm actually fitter now than I have been since I was a kid and feel far healthier than I did even at my lowest weight. Focusing on health and fitness works well for me, because focusing on size and appearance means my self-esteem gets tangled up with my weight and that's not healthy (I've had eating disorders in the past).

thanks for the support all, I think because I am tall (5'9) people think I am fine when really with a BMI that high I am not! Off the gym tomorrow feeling so tired today, did a full fast day monday and yesterday so with the gym hopefully shift a few pounds. I have ordered those scales so fingers crossed!

Today I am truly tired, I know my life isn't like some people on here but today I have had an awfully long meeting and ready for bed or at least a nap!

Have a very MSE weekend all xx

  • Morning all happy Monday.

This week is a busy one! Yesterday though we had a powercut most of the day - so annoying can't even make a cup of tea, so of course, we ended up going out and spending £20 on food and £20 on going to see The Martian. No ideal but we very rarely do anything like that. Plus tonight we are off to see a free screening of the Suffragette! This is far more up my street and I am so excited.

I went twice to the gym at the weekend and since the end of the week is so busy I am going to try and go in my lunch break today too. Plus is a fast day... I will shift this weight!!

    xx

  • Hey Bright Spark,

Sorry to hear about your shock but well done for the changes you've made and joining the gym I'm sure you'll see a difference soon!

I don't know if tracking your progress motivates you but I recommend My Fitness Pal as a way to log your food and exercise. You enter your current health details and also your goals and it will give you a calorie goal for each day which you need to stay under - exercising increases the amount of calories you are allowed too.

    Good luck! xx

  • hi guys

film was AMAZINg highly recommend it! Also, nice to see normal every day women as the main point of the film and very moving.

Thanks for the suggestion Londongirl, I have my apple watch which helps and monitors my activity etc, so using that to start with as I am not very good at remembering to try and write down all the food Lark is the one that had also been suggested? xx
