For my sins i am one of those AL delivery driver. After reading your posts and working there im not surprised about your complaints.

The set up is poor and amatuerish, Amazon only set up the logistics because you the consumers want cheaper and cheaper prices and i count myself in that too as im a prime member and frequent amazon user. So they run the logistics on a shoe string budget........
As I understood it, Amazon Logistics doesn't actually exist as such - not, at least, in the shape of an actual delivery company.

Isn't the situation that AL contracts blocks of work to individual delivery companies in different areas of the country? Each of those companies (and we don't know the number of them) bids for the work, and Amazon contracts it out to the cheapest ones - hence the poor service levels.

Those companies use self-employed drivers to get round the minimum wage legislation, and because the drivers find it so difficult to make any money on the pittance they get paid corners are cut, deliveries aren't made, and Amazon (quite rightly) gets the blame.

This all backfires on Amazon because it's being done in the Amazon name and hacking off customers. Soon, Amazon will realise this, and the system will be changed so that Amazon doesn't continue to have its name tarnished by delivery firms operating under its name.
  • What can I do? Amazon Logistics are absolutely useless.
I have been due three deliveries in the last three weeks.
The first delivery took three days to find my address, but at least they had found it!
So the next week I placed another order naively thinking it would arrive, four days elapsed before they found my address.
Surely, now they would know where I am (I have bought off Amazon since 1998 and the previous carriers always found me)
So, mistakenly, I place another order and guess what, on my tracking info it shows the parcel not delivered as they cannot find the address.
They have a phone number for me, but never ring, they clearly have no continuing source of intelligence which is passed from driver to drive.
So what value is Amazon Prime with its "Next Day Delivery" when it never is!
Currently in connection with these three deliveries I have spent nearly two (valuable) hours on the telephone to Amazon Customer Services,
with less than satisfying results. No-one has (or will not give) a number for Amazon Logistics, neither will they give a number for Amazon Prime
so I can complain to them about their lack of Customer Service.
All in all a service to be avoided and stick to products that are fulfilled by the suppliers who consistently find us using reliable couriers.

I wonder if AL have "good" drivers who they reserve for the last attempt. With two orders recently delivery has been attempted twice before a driver with a bit of sense manages it on the third attempt. One had the sense to use the phone number on the address label to ask for directions & the other managed it all on his own. Sat nav is wrong around these parts, if I'm expecting a delivery I keep an eye out for a white van wandering around looking lost then I run outside & jump up & down waving my arms about.

I think I'll try the "collect from the local post office" option next time, surely they can find that?

Supposed AL attempted delivery at 19:30 on Monday.
Phone Amazon at 19:34 when the "you weren't home" email pinged onto my phone.
    "There was no-one in"
"I was standing on my doorstep gossiping with my neighbour from 7pm onwards"
"GPS shows our van outside your house"
"Really, there are three parts to my road and it isn't on any maps or Sat Nav systems as yet due to being a new build, so can you prove that it was my door they were outside of. Perhaps ask them my door colour and what's on my door? Or I can just show you the CCTV footage of my doorstep"
"Erm. We'll re-deliver tomorrow as the driver is no longer in your area"
"It's 5 minutes since you say he attempted delivery, how is he no longer in the area?"
"Erm. Erm. Erm. We'll re-deliver tomorrow"

So they re-delivered today. The guy decided to absolutely hammer the door bell and knock the door simultaneously for the 10 seconds it took me to get to the door
  • Does Amazon logistics not leave calling cards ? , saying delivery attempted yesterday, but I was in all day, I'm in all day today as well..hopefully it will turn up at some point.

  • I've been in all day and just received an email 'We tried but failed to deliver your package today'

Classic behaviour from bottom-end delivery firms at this time of the year. The drivers are given too many deliveries to achieve in a day, so they simply skip some (pretending that customers are out) to get home at a reasonable time.

It's partly the fault of the drivers (for lying and cheating the system), partly the fault of the companies Amazon have contracted the work to. But mainly the fault of Amazon for doing what they always do - paying as little as they can possibly get away with (like their tax) for deliveries and dumping their problems on other people.

Much like Tesco - and hopefully there will be a similar payback for Amazon as customers look elsewhere.
  • Had a non delivery today.
Various e-mails advising delivery date, out for delivery etc. then a final "delivered" message.
No it hasn't, I've been in all day because of the expected delivery. Checked the front door bell, working fine.
Yet to contact Amazon c.s. for a replacement.
Never had any delivery problems previously with Amazon but this is the first using Amazon Logistics. Looks like they get what they pay peanuts for!
