Indeed, had the same problem myself just recently. My "front" door is down the side of the property, let's call it 12a. To the front facing the road are numbers 12, 12b and 14. Because of problems with other couriers in the past I put "door down side driveway" as line 2 of the address I give in my order.
Last week an Amazon order was shown as "card left" when I was sat in waiting for it. I emailed Amazon, who said they'd try again the next day. Of course, same thing happened. Emailed again, and they said they'd put my phone number of the driver instructions so that he could phone when he got here. He did phone - he was foreign and he'd been knocking on 12 and he admitted he didn't understand the instruction on the address label to say my door was down the side driveway.
You'd have thought basic delivery instructions would be something they'd check a delivery driver could read wouldn't you?0 -

The delivery address, registered on Amazon, includes specific instructions on how to get into the building. (Sheltered housing, code needed to enter main reception)....Every other courier company has someone managed to find the front door, enter the code and deliver the package.
Not so with Amazon Logistics.
I was just coming back from the laundry area when I heard a banging on a window. Another resident also heard the noise and got to the window first - the courier waved the parcel. ....The side door was then opened for him and he handed the package to the other resident, and gave him the signing pad too....the other resident checked the name and gave the parcel back and said the parcel wasn't for him...the courier said 'sign!' ...the other resident refused....by this time I had come to the door and recognized it was an Amazon package...I checked the name...yes, it was for me....I pointed out to the courier that the address line said which door to use and included the keycode...he looked confused and said 'sorry...no read English'!
How can Amazon employ drivers/couriers who cannot read the address of the parcels????!!!!
Maybe the couriers who don't read English do what is asked rather than maybe those who wouldnt do what is asked.
Would have thought being able to read english would be anice ansolute requirement.0 -

Amazon Logistics - a joke service!
I've just come off the phone having been speaking with a very rude, dismissive and ignorant Amazon agent.
I ordered two Bluetooth speaker cases and a DVD which brought my total easily to over the £20 threshold for free delivery. In fact the total came to 16+16+2.74 = £34.74.
Evidently free 3-5 delivery = substandard courier service.
I waited in all day having received an email from Amazon informing me of tracked imminent delivery. The doorbell finally rang at 6pm. The driver was miserable and surly and unapologetic.
I complained initially using the feedback facility, but Amazon rejected my feedback. It seems that it will only accept positive comments. Anything that puts them in a bad light is rejected.
So Amazon, in the space of a few years, have gone from free delivery on most items to a £10 limit then a £20 limit and now a third world courier service. When I was working, the company I worked for strived to improve services for the customer, we didn't deliberately set out to deteriorate them!
To add insult to injury, the price of the cases actually reduced by nearly 20% overnight after I made my order. No offer of a refund.
I asked for a call back and an agent rang me this morning. He was insistent of the service saying having signed up to Amazon when purchasing I was accepting the standard of the courier service - deliveries up to 9pm at night.
This service is worse than Yodel and nowhere near as good as Royal Mail
Obviously the game here is that Amazon are trying to force the issue with Prime. Pay £80 a year and you don't have to suffer the "steerage" service. I absolutely refuse and so should everyone else.
The idiot hung up on me. Who the hell do these tax dodgers think they are?
You don't need Prime, even to watch stuff on your Fire TV Sticks. Just get Kodi its free and you get more than what Amazon are offering for nothing.
From now on I shall widen my search for anything else I buy. Amazon will be a last resort.0 -

Sorry, but even if you pay the £79 pa for prime, you'll still get the same Amazon Logistics service. It just arrives (usually) the next day.
It's not remotely as good as the DPD/Royal Mail service we used to get, but to be fair it's a lot better than it was. It usually arrives reliably the following day, but pretty late in the day.0 -

I have a feeling there were two side to that conversation

Apologise for what?

The 'feedback' service is about the product and the product alone.

Amazon set out from day one to dominate the market. They ran at a loss for years apparently.
To add insult to injury, the price of the cases actually reduced by nearly 20% overnight after I made my order. No offer of a refund.
Why would you expect a refund? You bought at the price advertised. have you been checking if the price went up to see if you owe Amazon more money?

Yup many do work that late. Just a reminder the people are working whilst delivering. Not trying to annoy you.

Why did you choose Amazon? Surely those items could have been sourced from a store that used Royal Mail?

Nope,Amazons choice of carrier is stock/time of delivery controlled
The idiot hung up on me. Who the hell do these tax dodgers think they are?
Well evidently your moral dilemma of buying from a 'tax dodging' company didnt hinder you?

What more does Kodi offer over the Fire Stick? FYI I have been using the software since it took over from Xbox media player.
From now on I shall widen my search for anything else I buy. Amazon will be a last resort.
Well I doubt Amazon will lose sleep on that.0 -

The only difference is that Amazon Logistics is "in house" as opposed to a third party.
6pm is also not that uncommon, as depending on where you live in relation to the delivery depot and how busy they are almost all couriers/delivery services can end up delivering at anything from 5pm on (I remember one occasion where DPD delivered at around 6pm, and last week Rm delivered my post at nearly 6pm).
I think the latest delivery I've had from Amazon Logistics was about 8pm around Christmas (the same year several couriers seemed to be delivering very late in the day for me).
I've had deliveries from the same courier operating from the same depot using the same class of service arrive at anything from 7am and 7pm depending on how busy they were and the route they took (DPD for me are between 10 and 6)
Amazon Logistics (like most couriers) don't give a set time for the delivery for normal service, it's "this day" not "between 4 and 5pm".
The drivers in my experience aren't exactly communicative, and often rushed but that's the same with most of the couriers these days, they're trying to get as many deliveries done as fast as possible (the only exception I've had was a DPD driver who arrived before the delivery slot and as his PDA wouldn't let him deliver early we chatted for a few minutes).0 -

I wish it really were 'in house' instead of Amazon just trying to make it look as if it is.
Unfortunately, despite the rather misleading (that's not like Amazon, is it? :rotfl:) description, it's just a mixed bag of carriers across the UK prepared to offer the lowest prices.
Amazon has no control over the couriers (apart from the power to terminate contracts) and not so long ago they were delivering round this way in a fish van.
If a cheaper carrier comes along, or if the original one packs it in because it's unprofitable, carrier number two/three/four/whatever just carries on the deliveries.0 -
I ordered two items from Amazon on Friday 30th September. I then received two notifications on the 1st and 2nd October telling me they were unable to deliver as there was nobody at home. The address was occupied all day both days. As the items were from different suppliers they were being delivered separately, after a few days one item was marked as being lost by the courier. This item turned up 2 days later in a bit of a mess. Meanwhile Amazon Customer Services had been helpful and I had an email stating this item would be refunded together with any delivery charges and my next order would be delivered for free ungraded to next day delivery. Great service I thought, I replied to the email after the parcel arrived telling them that I now had the item and asking them to re-charge me. I have heard no more on this one. The second and more costly item was then marked as being delivered on the 3rd October (on order tracking) It was not delivered to my address we were home all day. The tracking stated it was delivered to "The post room LetterBoz" I assume the letterBoz is a typo but I do not have anything like a post room. I contacted Amazon and they "launched an investigation" after a couple on day's I received an email saying they had completed their "Investigation" and can take no further action until I provide them a crime number. I replied asking for proof of delivery and I now seem stuck in a loop my asking for proof of delivery and Amazon telling me to report a crime to the UK police. I do not think I am being unreasonable asking for proof of delivery am I? Not too sure what to do next, I could go to my Credit Card company but I really do not see that it their fault. I would be grateful for any help on where to go next. Regards Gordon0
