Amazon Logistics (rant)

Basically, avoid Amazon Logistics as much as possible and I hope that no one has to deal with Amazon customer services ever.
Well I'm a Prime member and have placed 82 orders this year with no problems. Yesterday I ordered an item at 10am and it arrived in the evening! You've got to appreciate that yours is an isolated problem and most other people have no problems.0 -
My postal address ( for parcels ) is difficult to find. I live on a narrowboat so I use a lock house.
Couriers have to drive down a towpath and most manage. Royal mail obviously do so daily . Amazon have delivered in the past ( sometimes after I provide specific instructions and mobile number...again.... it's all included on my profile )
I won't go into specifics about the recent delay of my stuff and subsequent refund but I will say that of you call your low cost delivery service Amazon logistics then you should have some controll over them and not say specifically that " we can't make the courier delivery it".
I do understand that the drivers get paid peanuts and time is of essence to them but when previous drivers can manage and the current can't then the company should exert some control over their employees.
I am not getting all huffy but am now looking at ordering from companies that use Royal Mail ( typically from eBay) or maybe see if I can get parcels delivered to local post office etc.0 -
I use amazon for quite a lot of next day deliveries (usually via amazon logistics (and occasionally via DPD)) and have to say not had any issues regarding the delivery of items by amazon logistics (had the odd couple of parcels presumably delivered to the incorrect address - but was resolved within a couple of hours via amazon chat and dpd are even better (1 hr delivery slot is brill)0

Does it depend on the vehicle though? Ive had that in the past.
Gone to deliver something and told the customer im up the lane or on the main road. "The other driver comes down/ reverses down" etc etc..
I just tell them the other driver is in a van or a 7.5ton lorry not a 17ton + one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Nothing like a bit of casual racism and middle-class snobbery to help in a discussion:rotfl:

Courier companies such as Hermes, AL, Yodel etc, and even a large proportion of DPD and UKMail couriers these days, are actually self-employed therefore can actually refuse to deliver to certain addresses. These may be off the beaten path, miles down unmade roads and farm tracks etc, or may pose some form of security risk such as aggressive customer or those claiming not to have received parcels when quite clearly they have.
These type of addresses usually attract a higher parcel rate or are contracted out to agency drivers at considerable expense. But there will be the inevitable delay in delivery whilst the parcel plays ping pong back and forth until they can find someone to actually deliver.0 -

For most of us living in the urban and suburban areas the delivery business model works very well. Even if you live in a rural area between two major towns it will work very well. The problems you are experiencing are because you don't fit the model very well.I do understand that the drivers get paid peanuts and time is of essence to them but when previous drivers can manage and the current can't then the company should exert some control over their employees.
That's the problem. Delivery companies have relatively few employees. To impress the financial world they are liar companies who include subcontractors and employees to make an impression on paper. A lot of drivers are self-employed or sub-contractors. When they get too much crap from a company they will jump ship and then someone who is knowledgable about your houseboat will be replaced by someone who does not have a clue, does not care, or does not think it's worthwhile delivering to you.I am not getting all huffy but am now looking at ordering from companies that use Royal Mail ( typically from eBay) or maybe see if I can get parcels delivered to local post office etc.

That is the sort of thing I will be looking at when I can't find what I need elsewhere.

I remember about 7 years ago I decided I would like to use my computer when at my parents for Christmas so couriered it up, my parents live in a village and up a hilly area, funny to see a full size lorry reverse up a road that only fit 1 car normally.0
