Reading the manual on Fujitsu's support page, it seems the machine might come with Vista pre-installed.0

Since you already have laptop, is it necessary to have extra desktop?
If you don't want to fix existing, with £300

If I reinstall the so will I lose everything that was on the computer?
If you install the OS on the drive that's there already, yes.
What you can do is -
Remove the current drive, which still has all your data, buy a new, blank drive, and install this as the primary drive in your desktop (in the same place as the one you just removed), then install the OS on that from your backup discs.
Then put the original drive back as the secondary drive and access your data, either leaving it in place on the secondary, or moving it to the primary, as you see fit.
There's guides on how to do this all over YouTube and elsewhere on the internut.0 -
Have you moved forward with this?
You can find a replacement HDD here for £9.99
You can then run a clean install from Boot with recovery discs.0 -

What will I do with this? And how? I've tried pressing f2 and f10 to try and take me to boot screen but it takes me back to the screen which says "windows could not start because of an error in software. Please report this problem as load needed dlls for hal. Please contact your support person to report this problem". Is it a new hard drive for the old tower?
I know I can reinstall but didn't want to lose data (don't think there is a great deal to retrieve but didn't want to lose it. so then thought if I bought a new tower
I've just been in pc world to look at new desktop tower, the fan is very noisy on old tower and thought it might be breaking down. The one I looked at was Lenovo h500s desktop. 4gb ram 500 mb or something similar but just getting advice from shop?..0 -

Post #16. Unplug everything, take off side of PC Tower. Give it a bit of a clean. Swap the old hard drive with the new.
Install Windows to the new hard drive. Once machine is back up and running, you can plug the old drive in(in one way or another) and copy the data needed, over.
The Lenovo wouldn't be my choice at that price point. It's specification is not much better than this Acer Aspire XC-603 for £129.99
The issue with the ACER is that you would need to install an OS for yourself.
Not difficult if you are not afraid.0
