AVOID ARGOS at all costs!

I did try to warn everybody of Argos and their shoddy practises back in October last year over my rechargeable electric shaver purchase. I was pilloried then on this forum, over the top etc. Keep popping up these complaints about Argos don't they eh? Vote with your feet, there are better retailers out there now, I haven't stepped foot back in there apart from my visit in February to gain full refund for poor battery life in my razor. They weren't keen to refund but I think with a shop full of customers very aware of the fracas going on at customer services, they backed down and paid out.0

Gosh, I shopped at Argos yesterday using my mazuma card, from a couple of mobiles I sold.
If I had known this before I went and bought the product, I would have written to the CEO and given him a straight forward piece of my mind.
As I did, I will just carry on as though nothing spectacular has occurred.0 -
Help me please, I have taken all the advice on these boards of 'Avoid xxx at all costs' I am now homeless because I can not use any EA to get accommodation and am starving because I can't use any shops. What do I do????
I know, I'll base my usage of shops etc on my own experience and ignore knee-jerk jockeys who have ONE poor/bad experience and demand a total boycott.
this is my new favourite person xxx0 -

Could be new policy... But that's what it is now.
I find that hard to believe..........repairs on the vast majority of consumer goods are just not cost effective. In most cases repair is impossible...........
Argos are in business to make a profit (nowt wrong with that !!) and they will comply with SoGA (or whatever) to the least financial disadvantage to the company - usually by replacement.0 -

I am going on a two week holiday which we have saved for for a long time. I obviously wanted a working camera for the occasion. A repair will not be done in time and therefore I will be significantly inconvenienced IMO as per my consumer rights.
Honestly I don't know why everyone here has to be so vile. I was upset by a problem and warning others that not only will argos not take into account person circumstance but both staff members I spoke to were extremely rude - an experience I would not like someone else to go through.
I am really disappointed by all the horrible responses
Kimberely have you tried going to another branch of argos? or phoning up the head office to complain?
I agree that you don't have time to wait for a repair, and under SOGA argos can just give you a replacement.
Make sure you get a memory card to back your holiday photos onto x0 -
All the photos will be easily recoverable from the memory card with the right software.0

OP if it was me i would contact head office and say you want an exchange of the same camera and offer to show a copy of your holiday receipt as proof and you are not making it up0

I have to wonder how many of these complaints start off with the complainant ranting about his "rights" under SoGA - which (judging by many posts are here) they DO NOT understand..
I agree with this. I've always found Argos to be very reasonable whenever I've had to take something back. As long as you're reasonable with them. I had to take a printer back once, it was approx 10 months old. They offered to repair it. When I said I worked from home and couldn't manage without a printer, they replaced it without further ado.
If you go in there all guns blazing, you'll get their back up and they won't help you.0 -
if they are/were on a memory card, you can probably get them back with http://filehippo.com/download_recuva or similar!!
