I am going on a two week holiday which we have saved for for a long time. I obviously wanted a working camera for the occasion. A repair will not be done in time and therefore I will be significantly inconvenienced IMO as per my consumer rights.
Honestly I don't know why everyone here has to be so vile. I was upset by a problem and warning others that not only will argos not take into account person circumstance but both staff members I spoke to were extremely rude - an experience I would not like someone else to go through.
I am really disappointed by all the horrible responses
What are these horrible responses ?
Still haven't said why you didn't back the photos up.0 -
The article I referred to states that the item should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time. Is it reasonable for a camera to last only a few months? No, so under SoGA I would expect a full refund rather than a repair.0

The title is way over the top and probably the cause of the lack of sympathy.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

Typical example of the poor attitude on these forums.
Gleefully pointing out the error the OP made and then hitting them over the head with it. Christ, they didn't back the photos up and they haven't said why? Who cares? They forgot, or didn't know how, or were a bit foolhardy. I'm sure you keep every aspect of your own life in order. Why bother replying to the thread?0 -
I totally agree with your comments Fridge Raider,a number of the regulars on here are of the opinion they can write what ever they want, sometimes it is of a very aggressive nature and its about time a small percentage take a step back from the site for a while0

The title and tone suggests the poster is a bit of a drama llhama lol
Argos are a pretty good retailer, and most people do know how to upload or back up photos. In fact, I would have thought it would be an obvious thing to do.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
did the camera have a memory card as its more likely to be a problem relating to that, did the camera come with the memory card or did you insert your own memory card
i lost all my photos of various holidays a few years ago due to not using the correct memory card for the phone i was using it in and i know i should have backed up onto another more suitable memory card or another storage facility or even online
i have never had any trouble with argos, in fact i find their staff always helpful and cheerful and this attempt will not change my opinion of argos who i will continue to use as and when0 -

I have already pointed out to you that the article you referred to states that you are entitled to the most cost effective remedy, which probably will not be a refund.
Please re-read both that article and posts #27 and #29.0 -
OP, take your own advice. Buy a new camera from somewhere else and move on with your life.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0

Is this a basic snaps digital camera, or a DSLR?
If the former, I'd agree with others, just go and buy a new one - a good one now is pretty cheap, and drop the other one in for repair with Argos. If the other one comes back repaired, all well and good - get a few quid for it on ebay, or pursue Argos further if you want.
To be honest, if it was a basic digital camera, I'd chalk it up to experience: these things happen, and not just to consumers at Argos.
If anyone is to blame, I'd say it's probably the manufacturer who doesn't seem to have made the camera fit for purpose - you could, of course, always try contacting them before you buy a new camera... Although maybe you could sweeten the tone to them a bit - tell them how much you love the camera, desperate to have one, you're sure this is a one-off, but worried about the fault and not having any camera to go away on an expensive holiday with. Don't ask outright for a new camera, ask if there is anything they can do to speed things up, so you can take one of their absolutely fab camera away with you on holiday...
Ultimately, if Argos give you back the camera and it still behaves in a pre-repair way, deleting photos etc, and they still won't give a refund or replacement, you can always write to their head office / CEO, whose email is on one of those websites.
If it's a DSLR, I think you can claim you are at great inconvenience, as there is a huge difference in the quality of photographs produced, and you could potentially sell those photos etc (which you likely couldn't, if on a simple camera). As someone said though, it's what Argos / the law regards as "inconvenient"...
But is this really worth spoiling the excitement of your upcoming holiday over? Spend £40 (if that!) on a half-decent snappy-snaps digital camera, and don't have drinks with dinner one night while you're away, and that virtually pays for it...0
