 Wow. It's names on a bank account.0

Even though you are asking to be treated unequally as first applicant?trailingspouse wrote: »Or maybe it matters very much indeed that all human beings are treated equally even when it comes to the little things.0

i like the way you describe the joint account as yours, if i was your hubby that would irritate me switched my joint account0 switched my joint account0

For me, it would depend who opened the account and what order they put the names there.
I would want it that way, and that way always.
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?I also agree that this is discriminatory and sexist. Although the suffragettes won the vote for women, and Germaine Greer, et al try to fight the cause, women still not taken seriously enough.
It's people like you that are ruining our country!
Men and women will NEVER be equal. You have wombs, we don't. I find it discriminatory and sexist that women have aisles in the supermarket dedicated to goods for women only. Might as well close the whole aisle off to men!0

Saying ridiculous stuff like this is the reason you're not taken seriously. Nothing to do with being a woman.
As for the OP's question... no it wouldn't bother me in the slightest."Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0

Yes shortcrust - it's names on a bank account.
ColdIron - I am the first applicant. I'm asking to be treated like the first applicant. Seems reasonable to me.
NotRichAtAll - it is my account. Although I see your point. In some contexts I would refer to it as 'our' account, and in some contexts OH would refer to it as his account. It would take more than that to irritate him.
anotheruser - oh dear. The point I'm making is that if society can't manage to treat us equally regarding the little things (like names on a bank account) then what hope is there for the big things.
Ivana - exactly the same thing happened to me!! I wanted to join, OH wasn't bothered one way or the other, I did all the talking, paid with my own credit card - and lo and behold all the correspondence came addressed to him. Way to treat the customer!!No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

The way I see it, is why sweat the small stuff? You're never going to meet the person that reordered the names and it won't make a blind bit of difference to your life.
I wish this was all I had to worry about...What will your verse be?

Seems reasonable to me too and I'm not contesting the point, it just seemed a tad hypocritical to say all humans should be treated equally in one breath and then that you wanted more prominence as the principal in anothertrailingspouse wrote: »I am the first applicant. The reality is that these communications are produced automatically from a database and are likely sorted alphabetically (or something else more efficient for the mail merge) . The cost of doing anything else would be prohibitive0

Does it really matter - you can't both go first, so one of you has to be second. But the account still belongs to both of you, and you can both operate it. It's just not worth getting riled about!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Would you be happy with the sanitary protection items and thrush remedies being next to your razors and shaving foam?Early retired - 18th December 2014
