You don't get travel costs for your fortnightly sign on, but additional signings on get paid expenses.
Ironically this means the scheme is costing the tax payer more money. Also, there are not enough "work coaches" to see these people more often than not, so they are simply having their time wasted.0 -
Thanks for the clarification sh0597.0

Legally you can only sign on once every fortnight for your benefits.
Any other sign-on in between this is classed as a mandatory JC visit and thus the claimant is entitled to a full refund of traveling costs.
Unfortunately they only pay for public transport costs and not mileage for driving.Never Knowingly Understood.

That's gonna be alot of money for public transport refunds, isn't it?!
If I signed on, For me it'd be about £6 per day for the bus to get to the job centre and back!0 -

Not so, it was within the last 2 years he was still claiming and HE stopped claiming to try and look a hero, instead, most people simply questioned how he qualified for benefits at all.
But hey, IDS still has his £40 a day breakfast for you to pay for, so he can keep his millions for luxuries.0 -

So yes you should be at the job centre checking everyday.
Checking what every day? Daily signing does not include a job search.0 -

I havn't been in one since just coming out of school...
Either way as above it gets you out the house ~ it gets the lazy people (not saying all job seekers are lazy !!) dressed out the house and ready to go...where as if they could just sit in the houses all day and get paid some people would.
So you are agreeing with something that you don't have a clue about, talk about shallow thinking.0 -

Yes, it will mean a shed load of extra money in travel expenses, but that doesn't matter in an ideological, anti-welfare agenda. It creates the added bonus of more welfare spending which can then be used to beat welfare claimants over the head with in government press releases.0
