He likes me! He told me last night. He thinks I'm funny? I don't know what he finds funny, I think I'm boring. He said I'm sweet and of all the girls he has met here, I'm the one who has caught his eye. :o

He told me in his sexy British accent for us to just let it happen and see where it takes us. I'm not too sure what he meant, but it was sweet and I think I'm his girlfriend! It was sealed with a kiss, well a few kisses and at work this morning when he saw me, he gave me a hug in front of everyone. :D. A nice showing of PDA has made me all gooey inside, he's not ashamed to let people know he likes me!!

What he means is don't start preparing for a wedding because there is a big gap between liking someone's and wanting a serious relationship with them. Ultimately, there is still the issue of distance. Men, whatever their nationality, are much more likely to consider practicalities than we emotional women, so whereas you could think that an ocean is not something to stop you from your love, he might see it differently.

What he is saying is take it as it comes without thinking of the future. Maybe you will both madly in love with each other and one day will tell the grandchildren how you asked advice on a Brit forum about how to seduce their grandfather, but it might also be a case of him telling you when the time comes to go home that he had a great time with you, but you now both need to turn the page.

In the meantime, enjoy, it's no surprise he found you funny, we all think so too :)

Yeayyyy!!! See, all you had to do was be yourself!
    Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game

he does like you! and probably your hero worship of Britain and all things British! its refreshing to hear an American praise another country and not be constantly telling you that America is the greatest country in the world!

btw - if you like 'Only Fools and Horses' you may like some of these classic comedies.............I think most of them have some episodes on Youtube

Porridge - set in a prison, but is typical Brit humour
Open all hours- (David Jason from Only Fools is in that playing the hapless Granville) its about life in the corner shop.
Dads Army - you may want to check Wiki about the 'Home Guard' during WW2 to understand this.
Allo Allo - set in France in a caf! whose owner Rene is a reluctant member of the Resistance.............featuring a policeman who is really a Brit and his French Accent is appalling (even though the cast all are speaking English.....................confused? you wont be!)
The Good Life ...............The Good's want to turn their suburban home into a self sufficient small farm!
Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister - pokes fun at British politics!

Hooray! So glad! From here you can just roll with it, maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, but it now has a chance to take it's course and find out :)

If you want a newer comedy or two to try, here are a few...

The original of The Office with Ricky Gervais and Extras which followed it.
The Thick of It (TV) or In The Loop (movie), political, extremely funny.
Cardinal Burns (current sketch show, variable but when it's good it's brilliant)
Harry and Paul - great comic performances, some strong writing.
There's more when you finish that lot...

Oh, and if for some reason you haven't watched Sherlock, you have an absolute treat ahead... 3 series of 3 shows each 90 minutes without adverts, basically 9 movies with and it is brilliant, massive seller worldwide.

'No, I never'. Not just a very British phrase, but one peculiar to certain parts of the UK or certain backgrounds and people who use it don't tend to realise it isn't standard English. So whilst you have provided a lot of amusement, you have confirmed my initial suspicions that you are just having a laugh with this thread and you are about as American as Wayne Rooney.

Eeeeek! I've not asked how to seduce him... Yet. :rotfl:

When the time comes for him to leave, I'll be so sad. I would go to England with him without hesitation. No ocean will stop me! He's made me so happy and brought light into my dull and empty life.

Oceans might not, but the British Govt might. They're not keen on people marrying and coming here - in fact there are rules.... he'd have to be earning more than about US$25k to support you and/or have over US$100k in savings for you to be allowed to come in and stay.

    :)
