Have they tried britishfoodshop.com they deliver paxoWhen my English son and American DIL and step grandson were recently over here for a visit, my DIL and grandson said they wanted to go for fish and chips, so we found an English chippy, who did the beer batter (only way to eat it) is an English owned restaurant doing the batter right.:T
They both then developed a real liking for mushy peas, and Wallys (very large gherkins), and insisted I bought some so that they could take some home lol
Tins of peas and jars of gherkins were wedged into all the cases..:rotfl: along with umpteen packets of Paxo stuffing, as my son loves it, and they can't get it over there.
Thankfully, going home, they got through your customs without being stopped, as I dread to think what your generally twitchy security services would have thought these huge gherkins were being bought back for ......
I had nightmare visions of controlled explosions of Wallys at O'Hare airport throughout their flight home lol

I'm still finding this thread a little weird. How come British guys are suddenly the bees knees?
For those saying how it's not strange to have drinking games with strangers - er, it is when you're on a DATE. One thing when you're with friends you know well and you're all having a laugh with people you've just met. Quite another when you're with a guy you hardly know and you're supposed to be on a date with him.
But horses for courses as they say.
One noticeable difference between Americans and the British is that Americans (and excuse the generalisations here) tend to be a little more intense in their dealings. Whereas Brits are happy to just go out, have fun and remain friends. We don't take things too seriously and any whiff of the situation turning into anything other than a relaxed friendship and he might be scared off.
Just have a good time with him. Enjoy the social scene, Accept things as they are and if things progress further, well then that's a bonus and if not, you've made a friend. If you treat everyone as friends then you'll not go far wrong.
Now all this talk of food reminds me of my mother's rag puddings - I loved them! I can't get a decent steak and kidney pudding down here and as for curry sauce - not a chance! My daughter has a French exchange girl staying with us for a week tomorrow and I've lined up some traditional British fayre including Toad in the Hole, Spotted !!!!!!, Faggots and Bubble and Squeak. I've told my daughter she'll have to translate the dishes

I find this thread and OPs other thread very weird, too, especially when she commented on Jeremy Kyle, 'a sensitive and charismatic man' ! :rotfl:Member #14 of SKI-ers club

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Guys!!! Third date approved for Friday :j we are going to watch a movie together. I've picked it so it better be good. Has anyone there watched Neighbors with Zac Efron? To me it is what I think a Brit would enjoy, but knowing my luck he will hate it and I fail again.Whoops-a-daisy :cool:0

You are too kind!I think you look quite British to me
Just watch for yourself and don't let any crush take over your life. Losing weight is good if this is what you want to do, but if it just the crush that cuts your appetite, something isn't right. Enjoy your life and friends, if something happens with this guy, enjoy it, but don't expect too much from the relationship to start with and don't forget that ultimately as he has already told you, he doesn't want to get serious because he will be going home in the not too long future.
I wish I looked and sounded British, instead of being frumpy with a nasally American accent.
If something does happen, which I so desperately want it to then I will fall hook line and sinker. I know he has to go home, and I can deal with the distance. I would happily go on a permanent vacation to Winchester, England and never come back home!Whoops-a-daisy :cool:0 -
You just made my day! That is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said about meI think there are many reasons why you shouldn't place such a low value on yourself. From your photo you look great. Through your posts on here you come across to me as a person who is intelligent, articulate, interesting, kind and considerate of people (despite not being treated so nicely by others yourself). Your sense of humour is lovely. My advice is stop hiding yourself away, and start to believe that you do have so much to offer.
Thank you xWhoops-a-daisy :cool:0
