When we first started MFW, I was so obsessed with only paying down the mortgage. Now I try and be sensible and balance it out with other things :) your tea sounds very yum!

Not the best day at work yesterday. The automated task that I had mentioned was working fantastically, but it turns out that my non-existent progamming skills had led me to automating it *once*. So it swam like a swan and then sank like a paper boat :(

I am now the [STRIKE]remedial[/STRIKE] owner of a copy of Excel VBA Programming for Dummies. Despite my disappointment, the possibilities for automation were intellectually stimulating, something that is all too sadly lacking from much of my daily routine :T

Yesterday was payday and the figures were dancing as intended. I've done the money shuffle, sent another £100 to our EF (should be back up to £3,000 by next payday). A few matched bets on the go, but very little profit to be had at the moment without new customer offers.

A more relaxed weekend planned. Visiting grandparents today, carpet shopping tomorrow and maybe a bit of DIY. I am planning to re-drill our living room door frame, the door is trying to escape!

Hope everyone else finds some time to relax as well, here's a tune to help.

Figures dancing ... makes me think of the dancing in the tv adaptations of Jane Austen's novels :)

Your weekend sounds lovely - and so does your music link, I've got it on in the background right now, thank you :)

Gah to your automated thingy, lets just call it a proof of concept and now you know it works you can roll out the real thing ;)

Could do with your DIY skills here, I'm planning to buy a cupboard thing for the utility but not sure whether to try it myself or get a man in :o

Love the sound of your numbers dancing, what a lovely picture and thought

    Regards

We have been productive today, lots of projects on the go :)
    • Bought a new carpet for our spare room. Now about £500 poorer, but it's exceptionally thick, a good colour and we went for a very thick underlay as well to keep things cosy and quiet
    • Bought some new bedsheets, yet another LED lightbulb and a few odds and sods for DIY projects
    • I've made HM houmous and an asian-style brine with star anise, cascabel chillies and bay leaves for a pork joint I'm cooking. Still to cook are the pork, a fish pie and several portions of creamy mash for the freezer

Now for an Eccles cake and a cup of tea :j

How kind of you to say, everyone on this forum is such a whirlwind of activity you sometimes forget to feel pleased with your accomplishments! :)

Fish pie and mash made, pork is brining but will need to be roasted tomorrow. Next on the never ending cavalcade of fun is hoovering, painting over some marks from a bit of joinery and cleaning the fish tank. Need to finish what I'm doing by half five, going out for a family meal this evening.
  • Afternoon Mr E,

Do you use a white sauce when you make your fish pie? I have it on the menu plan for November but I fancy making a different type of sauce. Thought I'd check how you make yours ?
