Yeah it must have been OH's presence on the other sofa that made his extra cautious. Finally got him up next to me though!

Incidentally, he's got a little scab on the back of his neck between his shoulders. Would that be where the chip went in?

He's also got a patch of short fur on his right hand flank towards his rear. Looks like it was shaved at one point. Nothing mentioned in his records, I've emailed the RSPCA office to see if they know, anyone any idea what it's likely to be..?

Assuming your OH is a regular visitor they need to start the bonding process too. Then Derek will feel relaxed around you both

I probably sound silly (I am a crazy cat lady what can i say )
But the second picture especially you can see he loves you dearly. Don't know if it is just me but cats have this look in their eyes that just says how they feel.

Well at some point over the night, he took up residence under the bed in the spare room, so that's his latest territory I guess. I tried to tempt him out with treats earlier but he gave me a scornful look.

I guess it's good that he's slowly expanding his territory within the house!
