awwwwww what a loving look on his face! or is he thinking 'has he got my best side with that camera thingy'? he is snuggling close to you martin - that implies a degree of trust. could be he finds 'moving' humans very scary - I suspect abuse or he has been trodden on more times than he had dinners! he WILL become accustomed to you walking about, in time. and every cat knows how clumsy us humans are. I trod on Barnes' tail yesterday and had to apologise profusely (and bribe with dreamies) before I got forgiven.
he is a beautiful cat martin - and is it just me or is he putting on weight and his coat looks thicker and glossier?

Hehe not sure about putting on weight but we have started giving him 2 pouches a day as he always seemed hungry!

    He's very relaxed now!

Derek looks very comfy, he will get used to you moving around. He probably wasn't getting much attention with all the other animals where he was before. He's a very lucky cat now, and he'll realise how truly catty you are (just like the rest of us!) very soon.

Arthur got stuck on the flat roof at our house earlier. I opened the upstairs window and he went out, but wouldn't jump back in as usual because there was a PUDDLE he wouldn't walk in. I ended up hanging out the window and picking him up. More batty than catty here today.
Whoops there goes another year, there goes another pint of

they say cats regulate their own diets - but a cat who has been kept with lots of others will eat, and eat and eat - they are used to having to be 'first in the trough'! and eating fast and getting enough food as and when its put down. don't worry martin - two pouches a day is what my Barnes has and his dry food is down for him otherwise. Derek will realise he isn't competing for food soon. and you could always take the dry food away at certain times if you think he is stuffing his face.

I think you are doing extremely well - that looks like one cat who knows he has landed in the lap of luxury! its very encouraging that he snuggles close to you - you haven't had him long. he may never be a 'lap cat', but he will be a 'stick like glue to your side' cat.

Actually the little chap does climb onto my lap, but I have to gently shove him off because he does that clawing with alternate paws thing on my thighs which hurts like hell :-(

next time he's at the vets, ask them to trim his claws. or put a throw/fleecy blanket on your lap.. :D

suit of armour? got a nan who could knit you chain mail trousers? because you wont stop that! yes, you need to keep a throw handy to put on your lap so Derek can come and 'Make Bread' and then settle himself down for a nice kip on your lap. and you could learn how to 'clip claws'.
(personally I find a good set of toenail clippers is easier to use than pet claw clippers - and its a two person job. one to hold the cat and the other to find the claws then make sure you only clip the dead white parts.) Vet will show you how and I am sure there are Youtube clips as well. Being broke meant I had to learn how to do it with First Cat - and its a skill that has stood me in good stead! (except Barnes has the fluffiest paws I have ever seen - takes ages to find his claws)

Leave clipping the claws, until he gets to know you better. You will know it otherwise. The claws come at you from all directions!

I am waiting to go to bed, but can't settle down, until madam Tibsey has decided to come in. I am not having it like last night. Just settled down in bed, got to the point where I was in that heavy state of just zonking out, when I was met by a big thud on the bed . It was her with a bleeding big moth in her mouth, which she decided to let go, moth flying all around the bedroom, with her chasing after it,. Lamps getting knocked over, curtains nearly ripped off the rails, suit trousers pulled off the hanger, the works!

Martin.... You don't know what you have in store for you soon matey !:eek:

NOoooooo you can't push him off your lap like that! Get a fleece blankie and let him get on with it!
He is so darned gorgeous, he can come and sit on my lap any day.
