He looks like he should be a Brunette from the colour of his fur!

You are lucky, she who must be obeyed, attacks me if I get within a foot of her with a brush. Lucky she is a short coat tabby though, otherwise she would be like a matted blob. lol

It will get him used to handling , let your OH have a go too. If you hit the right spot ( just behind his tail on his back) he will be your friend for life. I think it must be an erogenous zone for cats, she goes goo goo eyes whenever I do it ! lol

Both of mine love being groomed! I use a Furminator on Geri, despite being a short haired tabby, we get a lot of fur off. It helps to prevent furballs.

Jimmy just has a normal softish brush, not as much comes off him (he is also shorthaired).

Haha, there's a hairdressers on our high street called "Hair by Derek" I shall never look at it in the same way again. His hair does look brown, perhaps he's got a bit of ginger in his genes. If so, his black fur will look a lovely 'pint of Guinness' colour in direct sunshine.

I love that Derek has white feet and black paws, very fetching :)
Whoops there goes another year, there goes another pint of

when First cat Timmy (Black and White moggy) sunbathed, his fur went brown. it was really funny one summer when he must have lay on just one side - he had brown fur with white bits on his one side and black fur with white bits on the other! as my DD said 'he looks like two different cats depending on whether he is coming or going'!
and current cat Barnes hated being groomed when I first had him - I had to buy a kitten grooming set and lots of treats, and use lots of patience. now he loves his groom and treats sessions. he sits waiting for them at 12.50 for his session, as his lunch is then at 1.00. and he is a stickler for time - British summer time is a trial for us. as we cant agree on the correct time for G&T and lunch. took a couple of weeks for that to get sorted!

its lovely that he trusts you to groom him so soon in the relationship! awwwww he loves you martin!

He's getting okay thanks! Well, I mean he is still terrified of movement and his default is always behind the TV, but it doesn't take that long now to get him to come out, just by crouching in front of the TV with my hand out and calling him.

Tonight he's spent a looong time sleeping on the sofa next to me :)

He is - I just wish he was this chilled out most of the time, it saddens me to get up to get a drink, and then when I come to sit back down he looks terrified and bolts... then as soon as I call him and put my hand out, he comes back... poor nervy little thing :(

how dare you to move at all when a cat is chilling out next to you?

    you know nothing about cats?

get ALL you may possibly need BEFORE a cat positions himself - that includes wearing a nappy (yes, you) so you do not have to disturb a relaxed cat under NO circumstances

    ;)
