Sorry for the post-fest! DH is snoring beside me and I'm starved for conversation
On massages, I have a good friend who is an osteopath and he'd done some research on headaches being related to muscular tension and knots in the upper back/shoulder/neck region; as a (very) frequent migraine sufferer he offered me a "freebie" massage to see if it'd help. He could find NO tension, knots or stress. My explanation was you actually have to have muscles in the first place to get knots in them :rotfl: However, I may be a bad example but there is a link between upper back tightness and headaches so if any if you are similarly afflicted, a deep tissue massage could be worth a try.
I'm going to wash my face, put my earplugs in and cwtch up with Harry Hole for a bit. N'night all xx
Could not agree more. I am desk bound (except the days I'm meeting bound or court bound) and I feel the tension creep in to my shoulders, neck and upper back. I am an exceedingly knotty person but suffer from (now thankfully infrequent) tension headaches. I know they're not migraines but they often make me weep and are only relieved by both paracetamol and ibuprofen in conjunction with cold compresses on my forehead and back of the neck. Touch my shoulders at that stage and there'd be no doubt on the relationship between the two :eek:0 -
Four more UU's to report...
Possibility rasberry pavlova hand and nail cream : inexpensive and smelled amazing , but not really rich enough for my hands and the beating they take most days. WNBA.
Nivea anti age Q10 hand cream :Left my hands nice and moisterised, without being greasy or annoying. Also left a sort of silky feeling on them. Has UV filter as well. Also like that it has a flip top lid (I am often putting hand cream on on the way home from work on the train, I like that I don't have to put it down on the possibly dirty table). WBA.
Garnier mineral invisicool anti perspirent roll on : Did the job, not my favourite scent though WMBA.
Bronnley lemon and neroli body scrub: Part of a gift set given to me. Lurid yellow colour but smelt lovely, really lemony. Useless scrub, but nice enough body wash especially for summer. WNBA myself.
Hoping I can hold out to the end of the month with minimal spends. It's been hubby's birthday, DD4's duke of edinburgh expedition (with a equipment list a mile long) and DD3 is going to Milan for a summer photography job, and suddenly needed a new summer wardrobe to blend in with the fashionistas there! No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Another UU Right Guard Total defence 5. Off on my travels again for a few days, hopefully no unalcohol related INs will cross my path:)Debt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
I'm so used to being on my own though (day in/day out sometimes) that even though I really like him, towards the end I felt a bit "it's been lovely but can you go now?!" :rotfl: :
I can completely relate to that! I was single for 7 years (I'm a single mum) and am so used to being on my own that I can find people really irritating after a period of time. I met someone on POF and dated him for a year but broke up with him just after Xmas last year because, although he was lovely, I just wanted my single life back! I couldn't imagine living with someone after all this time. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing really :cool:Never say never0 -
Hi All, been lurking for a while and would like to join please.
I have a HUUUUUGEE stash of items, 3 large bags of Soap & Glory, quite a lot of L'Occitane, big bag of Lush bath bombs and bubble bars etc etc etc, you get the idea!!
My latest fad is Hot Cloth Cleansers, I seem to be on a mission to try all the brands available and not just that but buy them in bulk when they are on offer (currently have 3 x boots 200ml, 2 x boots 50ml, 3 x Superdrug 150ml and 3 x Ren 150ml!! all in the stash PLUS 1 x boots and superdrug in use!). Love the smell of the Ren one, love the price of the boots (especially when on offer) and the superdrug one was less than half price when I got it, love the boots and Ren ones in the evening for deep cleansing and their subtle fragrances but love the superdrug one in the morning as it is quite menthol-ly and wakes me up!
I will attempt to make a full list (but will wait until DH is on a night shift so that he doesn't see the true extent of my hoard!!).
I did manage to UU 4 items over the weekend and have put £1 in a pot for every item (hoping to save a LOT of money over the next few months!). UU's were S&G Conditioner (4 more in stash), Lush Whoosh Jelly soap (2 more in stash), Boots Botanics after shaving body balm (WNBA as have loads of butters etc in stash) and a Schwartzkopf hair dye (4 more in stash, they were £1 each!!). Hoping for a couple more this week as have a couple of 'splutterers'.
We are going on holiday later in the year and have a couple of weekends planned so will go through my stash and allocate sachets and samples to take away with us - have loads of l'occitane to use this way.
I have been loving reading about your use ups and reviews and hope that this will spur me along and prevent me from buying more unnecessary items!

I think any of us who have experienced singledom for any length of time can relate to this
I love my DH with all my heart but he gets on my bumps sometimes, not because he's annoying but just because he's there
Completely OT but I'm off to spend tomorrow with my BFF and I cannot wait to see her, her gorgeous daughter and her beautiful 18 month old twins :j I moved away 15 months ago and I miss her so very much, my heart is bursting with excitement :T
I just started thinking "I could do such and such if you weren't here" :rotfl:
Awwww fantastic, have a brilliant time!! xx:rotfl: kadison your post made me chuckle. I have this image of you running to open your cupboards and all the beauty goodies falling out :rotfl:
Oh the cupboards were full of random rubbish from before and after my recent holiday, as normal the understairs cupboard was rammed full!I can completely relate to that! I don't know if this is a good or bad thing really
Yes, I have to say I'm quite nervous at the idea this might go somewhere (and excited of course), I've been single my entire adult life for various reasons so the idea of where all this could lead makes me feel a bit sick, I mean, could I live with someone else after all this time? Share my space, go on holidays where what I want isn't the only concern?
I know I'm thinking ahead too much so I'm trying to live in the moment more, but us girls do tend to plan ahead more than blokes don't we?No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

FizzWhizz, I hope you have a lovely day with your friend. I too moved away from my best friend several years ago and am going back home this weekend to surprise her (she's having a baby in just over a month), so I know exactly how you feel.
And welcome 321!
I have 2 UU and 3 INs from this weekend.
• UU 1 Testing shampoo – I've been using this as bubble bath as it has sulphates in it. Finally out of my life!
• UU2 TBS Vitamin C Skin reviver – Has no benefits as a vitamin C product, but worked ok as a primer under make up. Not a necessity so WNBA.
And now for the IN's!
• Dove Shea butter and warm vanilla body lotion – needed as I have no more body lotions left. I'm multi-tasking at home by using coconut oil, but I needed something for my gym bag. It was half price and I love vanilla.
• Coppertone SPF50 for the face X 2 – Maybe not a necessity yet, but I'm nearly out of my Biore perfect face milk, and these were fund in the 99p store! I am obsessed with facial sunscreens, especially asian ones, so when I found these in the 99p store I was so excited! No more goo hoarding!

Welcome 321, you're in good company here so no need to be ashamed of your stash, we love a good nosey at new lists!
kadison - pleased to hear your date went well, I can totally relate though as I love my independence and loved living alone. It was a real compromise when I met and moved in with my now DH, but worth it of course (though I am always quite happy when we have the occasional evening / weekend apart and I get the house to myself to be selfish and have me-time!)
dazedandconfused - I really rate the Sure Max sticks - quite pricey but last me a couple of months so probably better VFM (I get a bit carried away with aerosols)
FizzWizz - enjoy the day with your BFF, I know the situation only too well - my BFF lives hundreds of miles away since I moved after uni several years ago and we always get soooo giddy at the prospect of meeting up for precious time together! I've actually just today booked train tickets for a business trip in the city were she lives for a few weeks' time and have managed to squeeze in a few hours for cocktails and giggles before I have to head home at the end of the day :j
Anyway, back OT...
UU:
111. Sanctuary Body Butter 100ml - HG, WDBA but still have rather a few of these (and other lotions!) left to get through before I need to repurchase...
112. Nivea Moisturising After Sun Lotion 400ml - WBA, did the job. I have enough after sun to last me for *a few* more holidays though - 1.8 litres of the stuff, in fact!
All this talk of massages is making me rather envious - might have to make the time to treat myself sometime soon.MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -
Wow, so much going on here that I am going to resort to generalities, great news on seeing besties, anniversaries, budding relationships, hi to newbies and welcome, boo to birthday without OH. :T at all the UU's.
I lived 150 miles away from my BFF for 30 years and now just about an hour away, we see each other every few weeks, but we just love the fact that if we decide to "meet in the middle" we can be with each other in half an hour:D
Until yesterday I had not had any time on my own for a week and I was positively fizzing with OH around all the time, and ready to scream, we normally have 3 days out of 7 that we can do things together, 3 days he cycles and 2 days I have things on, so we normally have lots of time to chill, but 7 days of virtually 24 hours together was too much for both of us I think.
So busy here today that having gone into town in the car (had been elsewhere in it first) and having found not a single car parking space, I drove home, parked up and went in on the bus and walked back.
Back OT - found yesterday that all the body lotions that I have are part of sets, and I still have Elemis and S&G shower creams in use with nothing matching or anything neutral left in stash, so went hunting for inexpensive leaping bunny body lotion, drew a blank as shop was out of Faith in Nature ones, but they had some baby lotions half price so IN 2 x 150ml Natural Body Lotion at £1.99 each, so very happy with that:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hello ladies!
Is it possible to rejoin this challenge after a prolonged absence?! I was one of the original girls needing help, but dropped off the forum after I moved abroad.
I've been reading back through this months thread, and it's just a lovely and supportive as I remember - I even recognise some names!
I've been fairly restrained since I left when it came to buying things, but I've gotten very lazy about using things up, so I still have a silly stashPlus I spent the winter in a ski resort, so ended up with duplicates of a lot of everyday stuff between my ski flat and 'home'. And being in a ski resort wasn't great for glamour, so that showed down my usage quite a lot too!
I spent the weekend finally unpacking the rest of my ski flat stuff, tidying my room, and cleaning the bathroom, so I now have a better idea of all the cr*p I have, and I'm not happy about it! I've found a few things almost finished that have escaped notice, so they've been put out ready to be used up (or used immediately).
I even finished 2 part used bottles of Cillit Bang while cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, so that made me feel good too (I know it's not toiletries, but it's still declutttering)0
