Do you have a deposit receipt signed or stamped of the correct amount and number of cheques that was meant to go into your account???

Does it match the amount that was deposited into your account?

I have a deposit receipt stamped by the bank showing the actual amount I deposited.
The amount showing in my account is 10k less than the receipt shows.

And when u make the bank aware of this, what is their response?

Did you deposit the cheques along with a paying in slip?

Or did you present them with your card?
  • Didn't they sign the v5c so don't you have their name and surely you have a number for them at least if you sold your car to them.

I wouldn't have handed over a vehicle without seeing the money cleared in my account

Why do you keep asking questions that have been answered earlier?
    ... a complaint was investigated....
The cashier and other staff were interviewed and found that it was just an error on part of the cashier who entered the incorrect amount...
The bank has said that this is their final answer and that I should take it to the ombudsman.

I made the bank aware as soon as I was, three days after paying the cheques in, GOOD FRIDAY.
i called customer services right away, completely forgot it was a bank holiday, they said they would get someone from the branch to call me on the Saturday. No one from the branch called, so I called Saturday late afternoon and they tried to call the branch again but no one answered. It took over a week before anyone... Head office included was able to get through to the branch. Despite urgent emails being sent to which they are required to respond within three hours.

    Hindsight is an amazing thing!
I was told the money was in my account by customer services.
  • I just wouldn't trust anyone except me where 10k is concerned

Also my experience as a lloyds customer isn't the greatest so I know they aren't that reliable. They made a right mess of things with my house purchase telling me in advance that I could just go in and transfer money and then on the day that I needed to do it telling me I couldn't.

But did they sign the v5 so do you have a name and phone number for them?
  • Also was it from the person or their bank as it's that which would indicate if it was a bankers draft or not.

You could complain here but I'm not sure how far you would get with not even having the other parties details
