Maybe because you deposited 7 cheques at once, and they noticed that several cheques were processing the system and so told you that. They didn't actually go in and cheque that there was 7 pending cheques and the status of each of them.Angrywithlloyds wrote: »ACTUALLY, the receipt shows the correct amount I paid in..
'correct' being the amount of cheques you took with you, or the actual amount deposited ?0 -

They shouldn't have told me that, I would never have let my car go.

Yes, both. The amount deposited and the amount of cheques.0 -
The OP said it clearly that the receipt showed the total amount in £ only. I think it's a norm for all receipts, e.g.0

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could/should do?0

And with this proof they don't have decency to admit losing the cheque?! Unbelievable.0 -
I only have the stub part, which is very clear and stamped by the bank.0

Actually I missed the "Number of cheques" box on the left side...0

When you pay cheques in they are scanned in , and if they match the paying in slip you get a stamped receipt. The bank will have the scans.
Lloyds once lost a batch of cheques I had paid in ( I banked with a different bank but had an agreement with them ). From the scans they were able to sort it out and eventually credited my accountVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

You are also accusing Lloyds of losing a cheque for £10,000. This cheque has never been processed.
Sorry but this sounds so totally implausible. Heard some stories in my 40 years in finance. This falls into the b******t category.
The cheque was printed, I understood that a printed cheque was a bankers draft and basically cash.
He took the car 9 days later AFTER I was told the money was ok.
The bank has given me a receipt as proof of the deposit.
Which part do you find implausible, bearing in mind I do not work in finance and therefore have limited knowledge/understanding of how things work.
Perhaps the stamped and checked receipt doesn't mean anything, or that customer services lied to me for the fun of it!0
