Bank lost cheque and are denying ever having it.... Desperate and need help!

When you pay cheques in they are scanned in , and if they match the paying in slip you get a stamped receipt. The bank will have the scans.
Lloyds once lost a batch of cheques I had paid in ( I banked with a different bank but had an agreement with them ). From the scans they were able to sort it out and eventually credited my account
When are they scanned?
How can I find out if they have this?
If they have done a full audit in the branch, surely this would have been discovered?0 -
Why do you suspect this? The OP made it clear that the receipt shows the correct amount that is £10K bigger than was eventually credited to the account.
Taken by whom and at what stage? I don't think that cashiers take photocopies of all cheques.
Personally, I would have made copies or taken photos myself (or used an ATM in the branch to deposit the cheques that provides a receipt with a copy).
The OP hadn't made it clear what the receipt showed until they just stated so. In the first post they only said that the cashier stamped it but didn't state whether they had actually reviewed the receipt themselves (you assumed that they did).
Cheques are not routinely photocopied but in this situation they definitely would have been (probably whilst the customer is being asked about the origin of the cheques).
And I suspected this because I know from experience that you have to be quite unlucky to make such a mistake when processing cheques. A transaction consists of a debit (the cheques) and a credit (this amount is entered by the cashier). The transaction has to balance.
In this situation if the cashier was missing the £10,000 cheque they would have had to incorrectly key in the amounts for the other cheques and made an error of exactly £10,000 with the amounts.0 -

They are put through a voucher reader at the counter.
But I thought they had told you that they hadn't received the cheque in which case they won't have a record of it.0 -

This doesn't sound in the slightest bit believable.DEBT FREE!

The V5 you should have returned to dvla, has a space for the new owners address, and requires you to make a note of it, but despite not having the cleared funds in your account and obvious worries about it, you sent it off and handed the keys over to a stranger without making a note of it, and seemingly you don't have this persons phone number either...
Was it a Punto/Golf/Merc or Clio Campus

Which part isn't believable, me telling you what they have said, or them saying it?0 -

No, I sold my Punto when I finished university.
The bank told me the money was there. I didn't need to know where the buyer lived.0 -
Do you have a deposit receipt signed or stamped of the correct amount and number of cheques that was meant to go into your account???
