NSK - how nice of your boss to say those things to you.

Today will be a spendy day I think as we are taking the kids to a farm which does the most gorgeous ice creams. We have walked their little legs off already today so they deserve a treat.

    Hello Tributes,

Hope everyone is having a nice Bank Holiday.

Sorry to hear about the chick CEW, that is sad.

Lotti - well done for all the cooking, sorry to hear the lentil loaf is not as tasty as planned. Could you put a sauce or something (I'm thinking maybe spicy tomato?) with it to give a bit of flavour?

OH's parents are coming over, so not a day of unadulterated pleasure for me. They are hard work. MIL in particular is relentlessly critical and negative - and I have had to lose a NSD to but some sultanas as OH wanted me to make some cones so they can have tea and cake. Grrrrrr...

But...stay with me on this, I have been thinking about it a lot - I am never going to change MIL, she is who she is and hat is sad but I can't do anything to make her change - I can only change the way I react and behave. So in the spirit of this challenge, I'm going to try to channel my inner Hunger Games (like abundant has done!), and see MIL as a jabberjay. Yes, the things she says upset me and are hurtful, but if I think of them just as noises - if I can ignore them and not react, it might help? We shall see.

MagicCat I love your idea with regards to the MIL. I am going to try and adopt this. I have several people in my life (some like your MIL that I have no choice that they are in my life, and some that I really need to part company from) and I am going to try and use this philosophy with them :)

Declaring a SFD here as I am still in my pjs :) doing school work :( Going to get some fresh air and take the dogs out in a minute and then need to get back to the work :(

Hello Tributes and a Happy Bank Holiday from me! Just about to start work, so thought I would log in and give my updates!

    BIG spend day today.

£19.00 including entrance and 2 x Hot chocolates (pouring with rain!!) at the Ulster Folk Museum's 50th Anniversary!

So I have £1 left from my underspends from last week and still have my £40 food budget for this week...or I might use the £19 out of this week's food budget and see if I can live within the £20...

Either way...£19 has been spent. :)

Also I have spent £10 in advance and booked tickets for next month's treat day - Lego Brick City @ Titanic Belfast...That is the entrance fee for both of us and I will plan on budgeting another £10-15 for spends.

Good luck with your MIL MagicCat.

I have spent as predicted today. Managed to get to Aldi and bought some cycling bits and bots and some cotton pads for cleansing, £20.73 in total. That will be the last of my spends for this week though so I am fine with that.

I can claim another NSD :j. We visited some friends, back from an 8 week adventure in America. There was a fete in the park behind their house so we all trotted along. My friend gave dd some money to spend and the only thing she wanted was to go on the bouncy castle! At £2 for 5 mins, I thought it rather steep, but she'd had £2.50 to spend, so was happy. And she must have had about 15 mins on as no one seemed to notice that she was still on! Result! So, she was extra happy and I spent nowt.

Have snuck in an extra exercise session, ZWOW 24, a 10min AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) and I did 3 rounds in 4 seconds over the 10 mins. Rather red faced and sweaty now - but satisfied to sneak in an extra workout!

I managed to have just over £100 left last month, so have paid that off the mortgage, along with a £10 rebate from ourprevious energy supplier. Did a few rough sums last night - I'm definitely not a spreadsheet person, I use scraps of paper! - and if we paid an extra £300 to the mortgage each month, then it could be gone in just over 6 years! Dh thought 300 was too much to find (no lightbulb there yet) but agreed to 100. So once my extra salary stops in Sept, I shall secretly aim for 300! In fact, why wait til Sept??! I'm already 110 in credit for May! Tilly Tidies, here I come...

Another SFD. Just lost a post so will try short version. Leg hurting so slow start.

Two lots of washing on line (can carry laundry basket - woo hoo).

Made a hm low fat version of a tomato and basil dip (bought ys for 10p at Easter, yummy but not very healthy). Not as rich and creamy (about 10% of sm fat content) but still yummy.

Cleared a large quilt off the dining room table which:-
    1) uncovered garden bag so attacked docks in front garden with secateurs.
    2) uncovered a pile of underwear and bits - brought upstairs in a basket to be paired of/ despatched to appropriate rooms.
    3) made enough space on table to fill toilet roll tubes in wash bowl with compost from shed - bean seeds up here so will take down and finish off whilst cooking tea (probably re-heating from freezer - not sure leg and hip will tolerate long period of standing).

Best of All Nasty neighbours have taken down the leylandii tree which was overhanging my garden by 4 feet. Last time I asked (politely) for it to be cut back she was abusive and aggressive - in fact in the 6 years I have lived here, I have had one smile, 2 'hello's and 4 complaint/rants/ stream of abuse (she's only small, so she sometimes stands on a chair to shout at me over the fence. They don't even get on with each other.

However it is a great relief that it is gone. It not only damaged my garden (no water, leached nutrients) and fence (he put it up, it dog-legged round the tree but trunk was still putting pressure on) but I was also worried about the implications when I came to sell as disputes with neighbours have to be declared. Feel so much better not having it there.

Another small victory tributes (did wonder if I should offer a couple of my holly plants as a peace offering but may just continue to avoid).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Hi everyone, i'm back from a couple of days in legoland and survived :D We stayed in the premier inn bracknell central. Nothing but praise for the staff :)The little man had a terrific time, I was just about tolerant of some of the parents and children, so all was well! We arrived back a couple of hours ago! I am so glad the tube strike has been called off :T

I hope all has been well and I'm off to catch up on the thread :)
