Busy day today. Went into town and got shoes for DS2 and myself (budgeted for) and the school dinner for the month for DS2 (budgeted). Went to supermarket for the last of the beginning of the month shop and got a couple of lego sets for DS1 for his birthday for 1/3 of the normal retail price so although these were not budgeted for this month they would have come out of next months money.

Will be going to get some gardening stuff tomorrow which is all budgted for as my plants are beginning to arrive and need potted on straight away and my little seedlings need to be potted on. I also have some veg seeds to sow.

    Right scores on the doors:
    May
    1. 3/31 log in daily.
    2. 1/15 SFD
    3. £0/£240 food budget
    4. £0/£50 petrol allowance
    5. 2/21 LTW (one day bank holiday)
    6. 0/0 takeaways, coffee shops etc
    7. £0/£3 local food bank
    8. £0/£10 beauty spends (may get hair cut and coloured this month but already paid for on Gpon)
    9. Continue decluttering house – DS2 bedroom for May
    10. Inventory freezers/cupboards (done) and do menu plan using up as much as possible and stick to it 3/31
    11. Plant seeds for vegetable patch and also pot on flower plug plants into greenhouse when they arrive – petunias (5) done
    12. Do gardening, vigorous housework and swimming for exercise – at least one each day 3/31
    13. Stick to calories on MFP to save overeating – save pennies 3/31
    14. No unnecessary spends, only things budgeted and planned for 3/31 days

    Evening All,

Yet another SFD for me today, YAY, 3 in a row! My mum didn't bring DD back until after 4pm so I managed a catnap before she got back. Am going to have to spend tmrw as am out of bread and t-bags but don't really need anything else. It seems a shame to spend petrol driving the 3 miles to aldini just for those two things, so if the weather is good, me and DD will walk over tmrw.

Not much else to report, so totals so far:
    SFD - 3/15
    Groceries - £0/£80
    Misc - £0/£40
    Petrol - £0/£15
    Exercise - 0/20
    Daily check in - 3/31

Have a good one all xxx

    SFD 2/15 :j
    Check in 3/31 :j:j:j

Went for a jog today then for a long walk this afternoon (7.5 miles :)) so am tired now! But resisted the urge for both chips and doughnuts as I nearly got home... :A

Great strategy abundant! I like that a lot!

Have had a slightly modified bacon and veggie risotto (I hid the extra broccoli stalk in it too :rotfl:), which was yum. Still feeling hungry though!!

Today I am grateful for dd's lovely ballet teacher who always has time for her; for the gorgeous sunshine; for the washing machine working!; for being able to do a tough workout; for a wonderful back massage.

Well done sianneLaz on a run of 3 NSD :T.

    Evening tributes

Just a quick post for me tonight as I'm shattered after a long, busy day at work. Forgot lunch and left in fridge at home- not that I had much of a break and I also forgot to do the shopping as I had just £4 change in the purse which i decided to spend on a well deserved takeaway on the way home.

As a bonus I got a couple of small trial packs of cat food from work so at least the puss is happy :D

Fingers crossed on a spend free day tomorrow as I'm babysitting my 3 month old nephew and can cope with cottage pie from the freezer for tea so will leave purse at home. Can go shopping on Monday after work.

    1. Food £0/£50 (only the cat and me and a freezer full of home made ready meals)
    2. SFD 2/15
    3. Petrol £0/£40
    4. Birthday Present for friend.......have budgeted £10 just need to buy
    5. Social £4/£50....mainly for said friends birthday night out which was planned months ago
    6 LTW 2/23
    7. Part pay holiday £15.08/£300
    8. Lose weight 0/4lb

Have a fab day tomorrow everyone and let's hope the sun shines
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life unless I buy something -

SFD and reduced food spending by £1. DS3 wandered in and reached out to take one of the choc wafer biscuits (5 for 20p ys) and I said he had to give me 5p. He likes white chocolate, there was a pile in his cupboard, I also usually buy biscuits and cakes that he likes and I don't so that I will not be tempted. He agreed and then came back for another one later but gave me a £1 coin for the 2.

Had been asked out for tea but it was casual (I was an afterthought really) but having spent an hour persuading the boiler to heat some water, the long walk was too much effort (not a big bbq fan either, just thought i ought to try being more sociable).

Chopped loads of broccoli, carrot, celery and cucumber for snacks and bits in bags to add to salads (eaten through a small mushroom box of raw veg yesterday and today and feeling better for it). Put together a salad using a lone boiled egg lurking in the fridge and added bean salad (3 portions from one tin with a little hm dressing).

Found a cardboard box exactly the rights size to fit the space at the bottom of the fitted wardrobe and rolled and folded 3 single (washed and dried) quilts which were getting in the way (will not be needed for a week or two, now).

Washed the coat I have been using since last autumn which said dry clean only (manufacturers trying to cover themselves - it was polyester, no special coating). Only possible problem was the fake fur not looking great but I have time to give it a gentle brushing and it should be fine - not sure how much I have saved as I can't remember the last time I took anything to the dry cleaners (7 years?).

Put away my winter gloves and hat - please don't blame me if you find yourself in need of an igloo or an ark in the next few days. Will manage with warm jumper + summer cagoule until next autumn.

Part tackled a large piece of rubbish I want going in the bin this week. Breaking it up was easy but my balance still isn't great and there was nothing to hold onto. Checked compost in shed, only 1/2 a small bag so if it isn't nice tomorrow I can bring it in to pot on a few of the small plants.

Other than that, a gentle laid-back day. Well Kat did say to think about the little things - a little meal planning and preparing, a little haggling, a little money saving, a little clutter clearing, a little relaxation, avoiding opportunities to fritter money. Will do more leg exercises before bedtime.

    It's all progress Tributes.

  • Finally. a NSD! Had a bit of a low morning (need to remember to book things in early on days I don't have DD, as gloom stalks lie ins for me!) but a lovely afternoon and evening, crammed in a theatre matinee and a music gig tonight! Tckets pre-paid, took drinks, entertained DM at home for lunch (nice stuff I bought on a whim last Monday, as a friend was coming for a meal, then it worked out that they didnt come over a mealtime so was saved!) and for tea (hm lentil soup - 2 extra portions in freezer now, too) between events.
Off tomorrow (early!) for a walk with a gang of friends, inviting someone I need to catch up with to join the group too, exercise and company! dozing off here so nighty night! x

Super late check in for me. SFD here with a very lazy day with family so there is nothing really to report in my end. Shoulda gone for a walk at least today but nope - lazed at home!

Love being fed by Mumsy!!! However I don't love the lack of reception I'm getting on my little iPhone! Grr!! It's always been like this though no matter what network I've had. Speaking of phones though I've finally got round to changing my sim to a PAYG still through O2 though. £20 a month for something silly like 2500 texts, 1GB of t'interweb and calls of about 7000 minutes or something ridiculous like that. I'm just hoping nothing affects my pictures as I have no way of getting them to my laptop before the swap on Tuesday. Bad planning!!! Fingers crossed. They've advised me nothing with be affected but I'm not so sure - there is no actual SIM swap just a change from O2 HQ... We will soon see!!

On another note I've been informed by a boss that he has been reading MSE. I'm not surprised though as I don't hide my use of if at work (might do now though) but apart from suggesting he had read stuff about himself (not so sure about this one Sir?) he was rather complimentary which shocked and surprised me... His words .."I am genuinely impressed by your tenacity and sheer strength of will I am proud of you I knew you were a little bit different"....and later the words "very clever and charasmatic" were added... I'm shocked to say the least....

However that's the extent of my news.. I have yet to read through the posts as I have to sit in a very specific place in the living room and waiting for pages to load is driving me nuts!

Into town tomorrow for a snoop. I like my little town but I find sometimes MSE rules never stretch this far and I can get "persuaded" very easily... Hmmmmm need to steel myself for tomorrow/today...?

Forgive me for tripping into Sunday with this post.. Been watch a film with Pa...:-)

Sorry NSK I missed my post yesterday  had an early bath and went straight to bed

Yesterday was a spend day as expected but not a lot was spent in total. I managed to get the adaptor from a pound shop. Thank you Fmess. I spent a total of £14.03 yesterday which included fruit, veg, bread, dog treats and toiletries so not too bad.....oh and a pack of 4 full sized snickers for a pound which was too good to miss...oops.

Not sure where to allocate the pound each for the adaptor and the snickers. I could say they are food related (adaptor is for yoghurt maker) or I could add 2 new categories to my budget. 1) misc 2) impulse buys? I think maybe the second option just to make me think more about what I have spent and where.

    So my totals so far:

    Food - £12.06/£150
    Misc - £1/£0
    Impulse - £1/£0
    SFD - 2/15

Hoping to have at least one more SFD over the rest of the weekend as not planning on doing much, although am thinking about wandering around the local car boot today which will incur an entrance fee of £1 each.

Need some rest before going back to work on Tuesday after 18 whole days off  and just to make life a little more interesting my Mum is dropping her 2 dogs off for a week or so tomorrow as she is off on holiday. So 7 dogs in total to go with the 3 chickens and the parrot. Fun times ahead but at least they all get on well together :D

Will post again tonight to update as this is really yesterday's post.
