    0.00 Money Spent yet!!

debts - paid! Just waiting on paying the big debt off this month as we are a bit low on cash due to OH having been out of work, he's got a new job and starts Tuesday so once that money comes in its going straight on the F&F offer I have received! And then there will be no more defaults on Cottage's credit file :) yay!

OH is off to visit his parents this weekend so it will be me and new kitty by ourselves, going to do a small shop online to stock up on basics and eat lots of chocolate in front of terrible tv!!!!! Bliss!!!

    hope everyone is ok?

Thanks Lotti - will have to have a look on youtube if I need the inspiration! The OS board recommends using coke to clean limescale off a toilet, and I always just think - 'That's real coke - diet coke must be soooo much better' but I'm aware I'm fooling myself!

Today I am grateful for completing the AS French orals with no hiccups; for dd's new shoes arriving so quickly; for peanut butter inspiring me for tea; for chats with friends; for the scales being nice to me this morning.
    .
Applemuncher - I love your grateful list, i think I should try this too. Was the peanut butter inspired tea a recipe or just on toast or something nice like that?

Crazy_lady - fingers crossed for car, I know how you feel, it's a nightmare when you know something is about to go and desperately hoping it's something cheap!

I am not doing so well - yesterday was not an NSD as I had to get a prescription and had forgotten I needed to pay a friend my contribution to a present for the wedding we're going to at the beginning of June.

And this morning I managed to drop a pint of milk all over the floor when getting it out of the fridge - unfortunately the kitchen has no real floor or electric points so the fridge is currently in what will be the lounge - so all over carpet. Still, I am determined not to break today's NSD, so have had toast and horrible black tea, and will wait til I go shopping tomorrow. Luckily OH always has tea and coffee black, so no complaints there!

    Have a lovely Friday all.

    Morning:)

I was hoping for a SFD yesterday but we went to the cinema to watch a live streaming of King Lear and DH wanted a drink (not the bottled water I had in my bag) and I naughtily bought some popcorn on offer (which I then only has a handful of :o) so £2.39 to add to the food budget. It's a good job mr t is opposite or he would have had to go thirsty.

Weather was awful here yesterday but managed a dog walk but not my 5/day.

I have to go to the docs this afternoon so will attempt to get my brows done again as couldn't be bothered to wait on Wednesday and pop to mr t for some wraps and DS toothpaste. I went through my meal plan for next week and this is all I need to buy until I do the party tea for DS on Thursday.:j

I received a £10/£70 voucher for mr t yesterday which I will use next week. I am planning to use up the freezer contents before our hols (next Friday) and was going to stock up when I get back but this voucher is too good to waste. Will still come in close to budget I hope as I also need a couple of bits from M&S (GF).

    Food £100/£32.08

MagicCat - hope you get that milk out of your carpet, DH dropped a 4 pint carton of milk on our kitchen floor a few weeks ago (tiled floor) it went everywhere.

Cottage - good news about your OH's new job, hope it goes well for him.
Fmess - congratulations on your promotion.

Yesterday was a SFD and an exercise day.

I am feeling down in the dumps today, me and DD are arguing constantly (she is 10), everything I say to her she argues with and she tells me she hates me every day. I feel even worse after watching that adoption programme last night, the two guys with the 4 children seemed such brilliant parents and I feel like I am doing a rubbish job. Moan over.

A question for those of you who do the Jillian Michaels Shred workout, what size weight do you use, I am thinking of getting the dvd but was unsure what weight to use to start with?

    Just spent £4.55 in Lidl.

4 rolls for 99p (will do at least 2 lunches!)
    Coleslaw, Beetroot, Rocket for Salad/Rolls
Whoopsie Chicken slices with Tikka Sauce will make a pasta dish this weekend.

That should be my weekend covered for food!!
For breakfast I had the remains of my son's Spag Bol from last night.

I have Spag Bol in the Cool Box, and plenty of rice/old pasta that needs used up so that should do at least 3 meals next week too!

I start my new £40 budget tomorrow (going to use Saturdays as week start!)

Forgot to add...I forgot how much I love going into Lidl and just smelling their fresh bakery section...even if I don't buy at lot of the lovely treats!! my favourites are the Gouda Cheese Rolls but they weren't on offer, so I chose alternatives! The best thing they did was getting that fresh bakery section into their stores!

If I have money left over at the end of the month, I'm going to treat myself to their smoked Salmon and get some Gouda Cheese Rolls too...Scrumptious lunches!

Programmes can't be trusted! They've no doubt edited out all the snappy bits and arguments!

Also re. Shred - I haven't got round to buying dumbbells for home use (Mr l has a bar, dumbbell bars and all the weights with that which I've got my eye on for when we eventually move in together), but someone over on the "Sneaky Ways to Save the Pennies" thread recommended using water bottles or baked bean tins - could be a place to start to give you a guide? 1L water = 1kg so I appreciate this would be cumbersome for higher weights, but she does a lot of reps so my arms get really tired even at low weight!

MagicCat the peanut butter inspired me to do a sort of Satay chicken thingy! Onions and garlic in coconut oil, bit of ginger and chili powders, smooth and crunchy peanut butters (cos smooth needs using up), a mug of water, and diced chicken. Threw some yellowing rocket in at the end to save throwing it away. Should've added a tin of chickpeas or suchlike to eke it out. But it'll do us tonight's tea too.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Morning all, thought I would check in today because it doesn't like I will be for the next few days as DD has a big performance at the theatre so the weekend will be taken up with that!

So today is SFD 3 for me, I go from the 24th to the 24th so I'm proud I have managed to achieve 3 so far haha!
Yesterday I went and bought both children new shoes which cost a fortune but I had budgeted for so I'm pleased with that.
Seem to be making a bit of a breakthrough with DH, his bank statements were sitting on the table unopened and I asks him casually if he was going to open them, he changed the subject, so I asked again later and he opened them! He said he had transferred some money across so both accounts are in credit, he doesn't keep an eye on his spending at all so I have been trying to work out a budget for him (mainly cos he asked me how I managed to afford to MOT my car and pay for repairs, buy myself and the kids new clothes and still save money despite taking home less than £500 a month pay and not use my credit card)
I told him how I did it but he still seems happy to bury his head in the sand, He has a bills account and a spending account, I have suggested he doesn't touch the bills account and takes the OD off the spending account and just pays more into that, then saves an amount a month so that he can buy himself some new clothes (he's always moaning about having old clothes) but I don't think he has fully had an LBM either that or he genuinely is not interested.
It's exhausting trying to tell someone that if they took better control of their finances we would be able to do more and save. It just takes a bit of thought, work and forward planning. NSK you need to whip him into shape.

Apologies for the moan, I just needed to get that out. Im looking forward to eating some of my spiced bean and sweet potato soup for lunch later and having a quiet afternoon before work tonight.

Must sort out my new signature at some point too.

  • First time in six years I have had emails and letters offering balance transfer deals, and been able to delete without looking! Nothing to transfer :rotfl: well, there is still one CC but its on a long 0% rate and I KNOW it will be gone in the next 4 months, if I stay straight through these challenges! Can't describe how nice it feels not to be having to think about it. Thanks again Kat and fellow tributes/raindrops/etc
