Evening Tributes...
I hope you've all made it through the first day relatively intact! Have survived and claimed my first SFD - forraged through my cupboards and freezer and made up food for tonight and tomorrow.
The wallet stayed in my car boot whilst at work so I wouldn't be tempted to spend anything...
I just finished watching the rest of the Hunger Games and am feeling inspired... also ruthless... and determined to not let consumerism get the better of me this month!!!
Thank you for your comments and stay strong people!!! Kat - I hope you made it home ok and are snugged up in front of your fire with the family!

Hi All,
Claiming a SFD today as the only thing purchased was parrot food out of The April budget that we tried to get yesterday but they had run out of the one he will eat. OH kindly offered to pick it up today for me. So as I would have got it yesterday I am claiming the SFD today
My targets and totals so far:
Groceries - £0/£150 - this covers 2 adults, 5 dogs, 3 chickens and 1 parrot. Been struggling with this a little over the last couple of months but determined to stick to it this month. Looking forward to some interesting meal combinations from the freezer and store cupboards :rotfl:
Social - £0/£150 - this looks a bit high but does include Dad's 75th birthday (taking him and his wife out for lunch) and my nieces twins first birthday party.
Fuel - £0/100 - hope this is high enough as need to travel for said birthdays
SFD - 1/15 - If NSK allows the slight cheat mentioned above
LTW - 0/19 - I don't start back to work until Tuesday so only 19 days this month.
Looking after the pennies - I am planning on making all of the cards for birthdays this month from my crafting stock to save some money. In addition to this as well as taking my LTW every day I am aiming to have a month of no tea or coffee from the deli bar at work. I will drink FREE water from the machines instead. I already drink lots of hot water but have been having 2 cups of tea a day at work as well but I don't miss it if I don't have it. I only drink black tea, except for today when I forgot and added milk (but I have only been drinking it black for the last 8 years or so :rotfl: ), so I could easily take some teabags in to make my own :money:
Other than this my main aim in May is to continue growing my house. It's getting bigger but still not 3 bedrooms yet
Good luck Tributes and see you all tomorrow.

Evening all,
Checking in with a spend day today. My spend totals probably seem quite high for the first day in the month but that is because my money totals run from 25th to 24th and I have done two big human food shops to use the M1rror's Aldee vouchers from last week, and I have bought the month's animal food
Hope you've all had a good dayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hello Tributes!!
Well what a day I've had!! Safely in Northern Ireland following a very late arrival last night. For those waiting to be added I will be on it ASAP and you will be numbered shortly...
So getting home home from Grannies last night after a day in a beautiful country house / garden exploring with Pa and Brother I get to see Mumsy and present her with my little netbook. But what did I forget??? THE CHARGER!!!
What a pleb!!! I feel awful for Mumsy who was clearly looking forward to it and having internet access in the house but it also means updating you lovely bunch is by iPhone and minuscule screen! But hey - Jack Monroe managed it for months so I'm gonna suck it up!!
So how are we all? I'm gonna read back on your happenings now before bed and 'maybe' get the laptop charged! I've spent £5.35 on my ticket to Gatwick from work.. £7.?? on food so I didn't buy any at the airport and today £8.43 on a stash of almond milk and tofu...
Might reconcile this with Ma who offered £5 towards airport food. Need to withdraw money tomorrow so I know exactly where I'm at!
Onwards and Upwards Tributes!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Check in #1, and have only just sat down - its been a long day, long week in fact!
Car making scary groaning noises at the moment - hoping to get a mate to look at it with me tomorrow. Its not *needed* until this time next week, so hopefully time to get it into our nice local garage. Every time it plays up I recalculate and try to work out how much I could save by going car-less and hiring when needed, or joining a car share scheme. Barriers are that we do visit family a lot to do jobs for them / with them and some are pretty vulnerable at the moment - its good to be able to be flexible. Plus we enjoy canoeing and our local car share doesn't have any with roofracks etc. Worth looking at again though!
Petrol 20.02 (before the groany noises started!) and £2.60 food - milk and butter etc for guests. BUT - didn't buy bread as I had all the ingredients, so it is in the oven cooking now!!
New paying guests are a lovely family. Will be a little cramped but our schedules don't really clash. They bought DD and I some lovely gifts from France - chocolate and perfume. I am trying not to look too scruffy as the lovely mum and daughter have that kind of easygoing elegance! I am somewhat sick of tidying and cleaning the house though so have booked a few days when we wont take anyone in next week! Not very DF but good for my sanity.
Cant remember if I said congratulations to stewby but if not, congratulations - exciting trip you had! Same to all others with big news or recent achievements.0
