I love browsing in Lakeland but we don't have one locally. If ever we're in a town that has one, I always head for their bargain corner because they'll reduce items to half-price just because the packaging is bashed! Best buy (half-price) was a stainless steel Krups coffee maker. There's no hotplate to stew the coffee but a vacuum jug instead. When it starts sounding asthmatic I pour in some white wine vinegar to descale it and it's as good as newMy message to that greedy wunch of bankers:
Debts another fine mess you got us into!
If you see somone who hasn't got a smile, give them one of yours.0 -
I have finally decided that I am definitely going to treat myself to a jam maker. Lol I have even cleared the cupboard space for it and have been saving jars. Just in time for the lovely summer fruits0

I was very wicked and went to Lakeland (the new one in Bicester - so easy to park, such nice ladies in there, groan) and came away with a jam maker (among other things, but that was the most £££££s) I really love making jam but my family won't eat the sort of quantities that I've made in the past - v wasteful, gets thrown away, so I like the sound of something that lets you make just a few jars very easily without filling the kitchen with steam, stickiness and cold saucers. The recipe book has an onion 'confit' which I love and wil make, but has anyone tried ordinary chutneys in theirs ? Any recipes gratefully received, please.
And re le saucier - I make white sauce iin it a lot, and have a choc mousse recipe which I've adapted and which is dead easy (I will post recipe if anyone interested) but it doesn't do HUGE quantities and I don't think would do rice pud, tho would do custard and is supposed to do hollandaise - which I seldom make. I love mine as you NEVER get lumps and you can get on with other things in the kitchen while it looks after itself. I think it is a luxury (it doesn't do anything you can't do with a non-stick pan and a wooden spoon) but I've had mine a long time so it owes me nothing and I find it very helpful !!
which jam maker did you buy and have you tried it?
Thanks

Oh my
I didn't know they had opened one at Bicester, is it in the shopping village.
I have just placed an order and have been perusing different websites with a view to getting some more easiyo sachets. I really want several different flavours but not sure I want to spend £50 or £60 on yoghurt.
Julian Graves stock the easiyo sachets if you have one near you0
