Hi
I was looking through my lakeland catalogue last night and I just wondered what people thought of the products. A lot of them seem expensive and im sure products can be bought in other places for cheaper.
What products have you bought from lakeland and you think are worth it and which ones arent and are cheaper elsewhere or have imitation products that are just as good?

Well yes, some items an certainly be bought cheaper from pound shops and the like - but its so much easier to sit with a nice catalogue and choose without hassle. Many things I've bought from Lakeland years ago are still well serviceable, whereas I can't always say the same about items bought from other sources, so in the long term I reckon they are much better value for money.0

I like Lakeland - they ARE expensive but in general the quality of their products is great and their customer service is brilliant. The only time I've been disappointed with anything I've bought from them is when I've been taken in by a 'gimmicky' product and it's not lived up to expectations lol (but do they ever?).
For good quality stuff though, their prices are generally the same as other places - I just like to buy from Lakeland because you do get the benefit of the good customer service. If you get the chance then visit one of their shops. I'm fussy about kitchen stuff and I like to have a 'feel' before I buy anything, particularly things like baking trays and pans, and you get the chance to do this at the shops0 -
Lakeland seems to be stocked with a mixture of the really useful and the completely useless.
Useful and worth buying
Green stayfresh bags for your veg
Freezer bags in varying sizes
clippits -my life is held together by them
reusable baking liners that you cut to size
the set of expensive coloured melamine bowls -I use mine every day
plastic freezer tubs
Complete waste of time
banana shaped banana holders, and indeed any of those containers designed to hold only one thing
plastic rotary grater -broke the first time I used it
bean slicers, orange peelers etc
toaster bags
and this has got to take the biscuit or should that be banana

I buy lots from Lakeland. We're fortunate to have one open up in our town, so I can go and see some products if I'm not sure about them. I tend to order on the internet though, as I like their spend £55 get blah blah free offer. I've stocked up on Lock&Lock cereal boxes that way, and as I would have bought them anyway, it's been a bargain.
The quality of their stuff is usually first class and, as others have said, their customer service is fantastic. If you ever aren't happy with an item, they'll refund you without any hassle.
I don't find themn expensive compared to buying the same item elsewhere. There are often cheaper versions of things, but I'd rather pay the money and have something that lasts.0 -
I love my tray bake, burger press and pic a bags. My life is also held together with Klippits :rotfl:
I also love the cling film dispenser, the xyliss mandolin and the orca oven mitt.
Thriftlady I laughed out loud when I saw the banana slicer in the catalogue the first time !!!!!!!surely people don't actually buy them.:rotfl:
Worst thing I have bought from lakeland was Butter Buds....YUK! Give me butter any day:D
Some really useful good quality stuff and some really quirky/useless stuff but i love getting the catalogues and their customer service is great.:T

There is a large unofficial Lakeland fanclub on MSE. I love them. Yes their things tend to be expensive, but they also tend to be high quality. I trust what I buy from Lakeland and if something breaks, or doesn't work, or isn't suitable ... they'll give you your money back, no questions asked. [They have a one year guarantee]. They wont sell rubbish and if something turns out to be not up to spec it will be withdrawn from sale even if it's already in the catalogue.
I found a kettle cheaper at Argos on special but when I used it the first time, it blew up (I couldn't find my receipt and Argos wouldn't take it back). When I recently invested in a Kenwood Chef, I could have found it cheaper elsewhere, but when spending that kind of money I wanted some added security, so it HAD to be Lakeland.
(I don't actually work at Lakeland, I'm just in there so often they've threatened to hire me.)
If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0 -

I got their dolly balls for Christmas
you put them into your machine with half the soap powder. Then I came on here, and people manage to halve the quantity of soap without dolly balls......:rotfl:

A lot of the stuff like gadgets etc I have just looked at is in the Kleeneze books or similar ones anyway, wonder if they are owned by the same people or just maybe have the same suppliers?
We don't have one locally so haven't bought from them, probably saved me a fortune as I'm a nightmare for buying kitchen stuffOne day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Without doubt the best item I own is the clingfilm dispenser! Couldn't cope without it now,
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0
