Have bought a number of Lakeland products over the years which are still in regular use.
    - The two egg microwave egg poacher (takes 1 min 30 secs)
    - The zipper see-through freezer bags (ideal for storing stock, soups and
    frozen veg.
    - jars and lids for preserve-making when I didn't have enough in stock
    - jelly bag
and lots more. I admit that I enjoy browsing through their catalogues but now ask myself "Do I really need this gadget? Will it take up storage space which I don't have. But they deserve full credit for being a very innovative and customer-friendly business. And let's face it, there arn't many of them about these day.

Potato Storage bags - somebody was asking about them. We bought one because we often buy potatoes which still have earth on them. The only problem is that once the earth dries and falls off the potatoes it turns to very fine dust which can seep through the fibres of the cloth bag. Every time we put the bag onto the kitchen worktop to pull a few potatoes out for cooking, there's a pile of very fine earth left under the bag.

the stage show of Grumpy old women do a good send up of lakeland. After seeing them demonstrate the banana guard you would never look at it in the same way again. definitely Lakeland !!!!!! :D

what is it about their catalogues that make us want to spend a fortune. I fill in the order form. leave it for a few days then cross off half of my wish list as I really don't need any more gadgets.

Lakeland had a stand at this year's Good Homes show but disapointingly they weren't selling anything just handing out catalogues. I live on Merseyside and asked when we would be getting a store here. They couldn't give me an answer but gave me a £5.00 voucher!! I shall just have to go to Chester now to spend it.

(I don't actually work at Lakeland, I'm just in there so often they've threatened to hire me. :D )

Hmmmm sure I've heard that before somewhere :D;) Hey TDD

I only have a baking tin and baking tray from them and they do what they say on the label - i.e. they don't bend or warp , unlike the cheap carp ones I bought from Woolworth so thumbs up from me too.
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

I use their baking tray liners which you cut to size, really good and also the 1lb loaf/cake tin liners are good. They do fit in the 2lb loaf tins as well.

I know that quite a lot of us buy gadgets from Lakeland. Which has been your best buy?And which your worst.

My best has to be the lettuce knife which is alos excellent for cutting cakes/pies/quiches without ruining the tin they are in.

My worst was definitely the adjust a slice which because of the extra bit of metal that determines the depth of the slice, meant you are unable to slice to the bottom...waste of money and was immediately returned to the shop

We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

  • Great idea for a thread! I love the idea of the lettuce knife - not something I'd generaly buy but might try it out now... I love all the Lock & Lock stuff I've bought there, and also their stack-a-boxes. http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/kitchenideas/containers!3033_3031_3029_3030 They've really helped us use more leftovers because they stack nicely in our chest freezer and are easy to label. Boring, perhaps, but really worked for us!
