fruit/veg needs to be dry when you put them in - could this be why??0 -
Just wondered if anybody had tried the wrap and roast cooking bags

nibs, 'le saucier' is/was a very cunning little machine which makes sauces (the 'Stirr thing Lakeland have now is not it) I have used one for years and there was a whole thread about them recently which a search ought to reveal. I understood they had now stopped making/selling them, but someone else said that they had phoned the manufacturers (Tefal here, SEB in France - they're French) who said that they were still making them, they were only sold through Lakeland and they would be selling them again soon. Mine was on lits last legs and I managed to buy one from Lakeland before they were withdrawn (about 3 months ago) but whether they will ever sell them again I'm not sure. I find mine invaluable, but it depends on how often you make sauces !

Can you use a le-saucier when making milk puddings like Semolina, custard, rice etc? Can it be used to make white sauce etc? How does it work? Is it only useable in a large saucepan?0

It has its own saucepan with a paddle and its on a base that heats up..picture here

And now I feel all giddy!
It's full of all those 'must haves' that I didn't know I needed until 2 minutes ago...has anyone else got one?

As a test I sealed some carrots in the bag and put some just in the fridge drawer. 5 or 6 days later the ones sitting in the drawer were a bit soft, but still perfectly useable, but those in the bag were all mushy and almost liquidy in places and totally unusable I had to put them in the compost.
I have just taken some grapes out for a snack (also in one of these bags) and there is mould growing in the bottom, and they were only bought on Sunday and no sign of mould yesterday.
Maybe it is because there is no air flow in the bags? I don't know but it is really annoying. I got them in the hope I could use up more of my fruit and veg and instead I am throwing more away.
Also make sure fruit & veg are dry (no need to go overboard with drying them though)

Don't seal the bags - just leave the tops loosely closed. I have just used some grapes which I had sitting in the fridge for about 3 weeks.
When I first got the bags, I did the same, until I read the leaflet, or watched the ad, (can't remember which)
Try again. They really do work. I was sceptical, so tried a bunch of banana, leaving one out. The ones in the bag stayed ok for about three or four more days than the one out of the bag.0 -
