My best buy is definately the boiled egg timer that you drop in the pan with your eggs.

It changes colour as the eggs cook thru so you can see exactly where the heat has got to in the eggs !

Perfect soft or hard boiled eggs eggsactly as you like them :rotfl:
    (sorry, couldn't resist that one :o )

I just HAVE TO visit the bargin basement -which is on the top floor, every time I go to the shop. The BF now takes it for granted that we will leave with something. I do try to justify my purchase(s) - and could possibly be a good defence llawyer the way I can make my case.

Best -the ice cream maker that follows me to france, and yes it was in the bargin section along with a load of card making stuff which turned into birthday and christmas presents. worst plastic stacky thing that didn't hold enough.
Opps need to visit the site now feelling a little dizzy.

[STRIKE]Fed up of being kippered by kids - new resolve - the NO word. Still at this[/STRIKE] Dam they struck again!!
Stay focused on the bigger plan -
  • My worst was a metal conical measure that leaked. It was marked with liquid measures so to me that meant it should be watertight - wrong! Wasn't a prob, they refunded even though I had it some time.

On to the goodies, where to start

Preserving pan, Stayfresh bags, freezer bags, baking tins, baking tin liners (found them cheaper elsewhere now), Klippitts, clingfilm, foil, baking parchment,Good grips bread knife..... I can't remember everything I've bought from there over the years! The pineapple slicer I ended up with cos a friend couldn't use it (she's a "southpaw"). I've never eaten so much fresh pineapple!

My newest acquisitions are a double-ended measuring spoon for 2 and 3 tablespoons, a compost caddy (seems a bit flimsy, we'll see how it goes) and a Lock n Lock bacon box.

I love their pineapple slicer. It works a bit like a corkscrew, and is fabulous

I bought this for husband at Christmas, he loves pineapple. This is just the best gadget , We both go wow! evertime we use it.

I have a lettuce knife - my mum treated me to it and it is good for lettuce and using in non stick tins.

But my best buy was the sets of stackable plastic storage tubs. I can't see them on the website but I think they were called something like Curcina? They come in packs of 10, 3 shapes and I got them all. No more messy "tuperware" cupboard, the lids always fit and you can even get the lid off when they are still frozen. Not cheap, but deffo my best buy.

Worst buy - well, it was my mum's. She got an insulated butter dish and the butter is always rock hard and her kitchen isn't cold. She still has to microwave a bit on a plate to use it.

I'm very tempted by the stackable cake tins. Mum had some when I was a child and she still uses them. They must be donkeys years old so worth their weight then :D Will wait until mum goes up to Windermere though.....

instead of buying the metal soap try rubbing your hands on a stainless steel utensil like a ladel under cold running water - it works honest

I'll second that...I rub my hands on the stainless steel sink under cold water and the smell disappears.

Ahhhhh but it doesn't feel so nice as one of those ergonomic smooth bought ones does it :rotfl:

I am with you tho, any old stainless steel utensil/sink will do !

Thanks for the advice about the metal soap:D I hope to get to Lakeland tomorrow, and planned to buy one of these because I'm fed up of stinky hands:o Not now I won't, so that will leave money for something else:T
